As a part of FedEx Corporation, it has established a reputation for quality service with a broad network of Service Centers and turn-point locations, facilitating the timely pick-up and delivery of goods throughout the country. FedEx Freight specializes in less-than-truckload (LTL) shipping, serving businesses that require shipments smaller than full truckloads but still needing fast and dependable freight transportation. Employing state-of-the-art logistics systems and a large fleet, FedEx Freight ensures customer satisfaction through efficient trailer and freight handling with highly skilled drivers and support staff.

Drivers are entrusted with the operation of tractor-trailer combinations, including the handling of double and triple trailer configurations where applicable. This role requires excellent vehicle handling skills and adherence to strict safety regulations to maintain the high standards of service FedEx Freight is known for. Drivers must also perform daily safety and equipment inspections, manage hooking and unhooking of trailers, and maintain accurate logs and documentation essential for compliance and operational tracking. Communication with dispatch and adherence to hazardous materials regulations are integral aspects of the role, guaranteeing safety during transit.
The role demands physical readiness to perform tasks such as loading and unloading of freight, chaining tires when necessary, and occasional duties as a city driver or dock employee, highlighting the versatile nature of the job. The work environment involves driving long distances through varied weather conditions and road types, which requires a seasoned professional who is prepared for both day and night shifts. Working with hazardous materials mandates obtaining specific endorsements and following federal regulations meticulously. FedEx Freight supports the professional growth of its drivers by offering comprehensive training and development, including the FedEx Freight Driver Development Course, which prepares candidates who possess the required experience or assist those transitioning into this role.
The employment type for this position is full-time, with a starting wage of $31.26 per hour, reflecting the specialized skills and responsibilities required. FedEx Freight is committed to equal opportunity employment, encouraging candidates from diverse backgrounds, including veterans and individuals with disabilities, to apply.
