The role of Supervisor - Evenings is a critical clinical leadership position focused on providing direct nursing care to residents as well as supervising nursing assistants and staff nurses to ensure compliance with state and federal care standards. This position requires the incumbent to manage admissions, discharges, and overall resident care during the evening shift within a long-term care environment. The supervisor will serve as the liaison between the nursing team and healthcare providers while upholding the highest standards of care through effective coordination, documentation, and intervention where necessary. This role requires the ability to lead, motivate, and manage evening and night shift staff, ensuring proper assignments, adequate staffing levels, and completion of required nursing documentation.
The Supervisor - Evenings is integral to maintaining the quality and consistency of nursing care by conducting shift huddles with certified nursing assistants, overseeing medication dispensing, and ensuring incident reports are accurately completed with follow-up care plans. Job Requirements
- Currently licensed in the State of Florida as a registered nurse
- Minimum one year supervisory experience
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to perform stooping, kneeling, reaching, grasping and pushing
- Proficient in computer use
- Willingness to cope with mental and emotional stress of the position
- Ability to work inside environmental conditions involving exposure to blood borne pathogens, physical hazards, and respiratory hazards
Job Qualifications
- Must be currently licensed in the State of Florida as a registered nurse
- A minimum of one year as a supervisor is required
- Must be CPR certified
- One year of long term care experience desirable
- Experience in med-surg, home health, emergency room helpful
- Experience working with handicapped or developmentally disabled adults
Job Duties
- Manage all admissions and discharges that occur on the evening shift
- Huddle with CNA team on each floor to discuss case load and any special responsibilities for their shift
- Oversee care of all residents and intervene/support staff appropriately
- Review all new admissions from days to ensure admission checklist is completed
- Review completion of daily skilled documentation for all Med A residents assigned for evening team
- Med dispense
- Complete documentation for all incidents including witness statements, initial incident documentation, progress notes describing care provided, and update care plan with new prevention intervention suggestion
- Manage evening and night shift staffing and verify all evening staff arrive and are aware of their assignments
- Notify MD/NP with issues as appropriate
- Manage any disciplinary issues that come up on nights
- Review all new admissions from days and evenings to ensure admission checklist is completed
