Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license for the state in which the nurse practices
- one year experience as a nurse in a clinic or immunization setting preferred
- compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice
- current CPR certification if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable
- current health certificate per contract or state regulation
- must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
- must be at least 18 years of age
Job Qualifications
- Possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse license recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact
- preferred three years of nursing experience in an HIV/STI clinic
- advanced knowledge of HIV/STIs including identification, treatment, and education
- comfort working with high-risk populations
- skills in patient education and public speaking
- ability to manage and administer medications per protocols
- experience coordinating care and training programs
- bilingual Spanish speaking preferred
- proficiency in accessing electronic health records and data systems
Job Duties
- Initiation and engaging in sexual health conversations with clients and colleagues
- obtain sexual history and risk assessment
- obtain specimens for STI screening including serology, rapid test, urine, or PCR swab for gonorrhea/chlamydia
- perform vital signs and comprehensive physical examinations for STI symptom assessment
- administer oral and intramuscular medications for STI treatment per established protocols or order of an APRN or Medical Director
- recognize symptoms of allergic/anaphylaxis reaction and syndromic conditions
- review lab results to assist with determining a treatment strategy
- assist in evaluating responses to interventions and making changes in care treatment as needed
- provide client-centered STI information regarding diagnosis, prevention, and harm reduction counseling
- assist with providing expertise in HIV/STI diagnosis, treatment, and training according to CDC guidelines
- coordinate care/client referrals for higher level assessments
- consult and collaborate with physicians and community-based providers
- perform nursing procedures or specialized functions as required
- perform initial patient work-up including blood pressure, weight, and height checks
- educate clients on HIV, syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea
- assist DIS program with field treatment during outreach
- manage STI Academy training including coordination and materials
- teach basic nursing skills
- access and enter data in PHIDDO system
- provide PrEP education
- educate patients on vaccines, treatments, and side effects
- navigate prior authorization requests for clients
- assess and record health status in various settings
- participate in care planning
- administer medications as ordered
- report patient information to supervisors
- assist with training practicum students
- provide presentations to providers statewide
- assist prevention team with training and outreach
- public speaking and presentation creation
- work with Rapid Start clinicians as directed
- other duties as assigned
