The part-time Event Coordinator role at the Michaels store located in Wilmington-Concord, DE is a dynamic, customer-facing position that blends retail responsibilities with the creative coordination of events such as children’s birthday parties and craft classes. This role is essential to creating memorable and engaging experiences for Michaels customers by planning, organizing, and facilitating a variety of events designed to promote creativity and joy. The Event Coordinator ensures that all guests, ranging in age from children to seniors, enjoy an interactive, stress-free, and fun environment.
In addition to event planning, this role involves providing exceptional customer service throughout the store. Coordinators assist customers in finding products, educate them on different promotions including the Michaels Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, and ensure fast and friendly service at checkout. They also support store operational tasks like unloading trucks, restocking merchandise, and maintaining clean and organized store conditions. The position requires excellent organizational skills, a friendly and energetic personality, and the ability to interact positively with clients and team members. Job Duties
- Plan and coordinate multiple events including children's birthday parties and craft classes
- engage clients of all ages by creating a fun and creative environment
- demonstrate and instruct craft projects and activities such as face painting
- facilitate party add-ons like goody bags and balloons according to company standards
- communicate effectively with clients and store team members
- complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, phone calls, and paperwork
- adjust event plans based on client feedback and needs
- create backup or emergency plans for events
- ensure client satisfaction for all scheduled events
- uphold cleanliness and safety standards by setting up, breaking down, and cleaning before and after events
- assist customers with shopping and product location
- provide fast and friendly checkout experience
- promote rewards program and credit card enrollments
- educate customers on Voice of Customer survey
- assist with Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship From Store processes
- participate in truck unload, stocking, and planogram processes
- complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
- perform Store in Stock Optimization and AD set duties as assigned
- support shrink and safety programs
- adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and company policies
- interact respectfully and positively with customers and team members
- cross-train in Custom Framing selling and production
- participate in daily store cleanliness including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom maintenance
- perform other duties as assigned
