Job Description
The Michaels Companies Inc. is a prominent leader in the arts and crafts retail industry, with a mission to fuel the joy of creativity and celebration for customers across North America. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels operates over 1,300 stores in 49 states and Canada, along with a robust online presence through Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. The company also owns Artistree, a manufacturer known for custom and specialty framing merchandise, further expanding its footprint in the creative retail space. Michaels is recognized as the ultimate destination for all things creative, offering an extensive range of products and services that inspire customers of all ages to explore their artistic potential and celebrate special moments with unique crafts and handmade gifts.
At Michaels, the work environment is vibrant and customer-focused, aiming to provide an engaging shopping experience paired with exceptional service. The company prides itself on fostering a culture of inclusivity, creativity, and respect, making it a desirable workplace for individuals passionate about art, crafts, and community connection. Michaels is committed to the wellbeing of its team members, offering comprehensive benefits and programs designed to support their personal and professional growth. Whether through full-time or part-time roles, Michaels ensures a supportive atmosphere that values each employee's contributions while promoting a positive and productive workplace.
The role of Event Coordinator at Michaels is an exciting and dynamic position based in the Orlando/Dr Phillips, FL area. This role requires a high level of creativity, organization, and interpersonal skills to successfully plan, coordinate, and facilitate a variety of events, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes, within the store. The Event Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to deliver a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for all guests, creating memorable moments that reflect the company’s brand promises. This involves not only hands-on facilitation of craft projects, face painting, and other entertaining activities but also managing event logistics such as setting up, breaking down, and maintaining cleanliness before and after each event. The position demands excellent customer service skills, as coordinators also assist customers in shopping, locating products, and completing their purchases efficiently.
Additional responsibilities include communicating with clients and store team members, handling administrative tasks like answering emails and making phone calls, and adjusting plans based on client feedback to ensure complete satisfaction. The Event Coordinator also supports operational store functions by participating in merchandise stocking, truck unloading, and recovery duties, thereby ensuring the store is maintained to high standards. A significant aspect of the role is upholding safety and cleanliness standards to provide a safe and welcoming environment. With a focus on cross-training, coordinators gain exposure to custom framing selling and production, enhancing their skill set and versatility within the store.
This position is ideal for individuals who are energetic, enthusiastic, and possess exceptional communication and organizational skills. Candidates with experience in retail, customer service, and working with children’s events will find this role particularly rewarding. The role necessitates physical stamina to remain standing for extended periods, move throughout the store, and perform lifting and other physical tasks. Michaels is committed to inclusivity and provides reasonable accommodations for candidates with disabilities to ensure all team members can succeed.
Michaels offers competitive salary packages and comprehensive benefits for both full-time and part-time team members, including health insurance (medical, dental, and vision), paid time off, tuition assistance, and generous employee discounts. Working at Michaels means being part of a company that embraces creativity, celebrates diversity, and strives to make a positive impact in communities through arts and crafts. Join Michaels to help create, innovate, and be better together.
