Job Requirements
- Flexible availability including days, evenings, weekends and holidays
- regular, dependable attendance and punctuality
- ability to lift at least 30 lbs
- ability to stand for at least two consecutive hours
- able to stoop, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and reach above eye level
- frequent use of computers and handheld technology including cash register
- able to understand and communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and supervisors in English
- able to read and understand employment policies and safety rules and procedures in English
Job Qualifications
- No education or previous experience required
- good understanding of the products you are selling and able to give expert guidance to customers
- comfortable communicating with customers virtually, via phone, and in person
- ability to build relationships with customers, achieve sales goals, and participate in pre-selling and sales-boosting events
- ability to utilize point of sale technology and applications to help in selling and fulfilling customer orders
- self-driven to keep up with product knowledge and trends and stay current with all training through Macy’s educational resources
- excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels and across departments
- partnership with the total team to drive sales and deliver the customer experience
Job Duties
- Greet and connect with customers in a friendly and genuine way
- recommend products by asking questions to identify customer needs and inspire purchases with newness and relevant items
- offer options and solutions to customers to complete the sale
- wrap up the moment to close out the customer’s shopping journey by celebrating purchases and sharing in excitement
- master store products, services, loyalty programs, and Macy’s sales systems to help customers find what they need and suggest additional items
- maintain department recovery standards including sales floor and fitting rooms
- deliver optimal merchandise execution and presentation, ensure accurate merchandise pricing, and process markdowns in a timely and accurate manner
- foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities
