Job Description

US Foods is a leading foodservice distributor proudly serving restaurants, healthcare, hospitality, and other foodservice operators across the United States. The company is committed to helping customers succeed by providing quality products, excellent service, and innovative solutions. As a trusted partner in the food industry, US Foods combines the resources and capabilities of a large company with the agility and local focus necessary to meet the diverse needs of its customers. This ensures a personalized experience that helps customers thrive in a competitive market.

The role we are featuring is an hourly position at the CHEF'STORE, a subsidiary of US Foods. This role offers a starting rate of $19.66 per hour and is designed for individuals seeking a flexible work schedule, working Monday through Sunday based on business needs during the hours of 5:00 am to 7:00 pm. The position requires engaging with customers, managing point of sale (POS) transactions, stocking and maintaining sales floors, and ensuring an excellent shopping experience. Freight handling experience is a plus, and the role may include overtime compensation.

As a Front End Associate at CHEF'STORE, the successful candidate will strive to provide an impeccable customer experience by building strong relationships with customers and employing the skills learned through the CHEF'STORE Way training. Responsibilities include efficiently and accurately handling sales and cash functions, conducting cart-to-cart product transfers, verifying purchases as a receipt checker, and managing opening and closing functions at the front end.

In addition to front-end duties, the role involves stock management activities such as receiving inventory shipments, maintaining shelves with proper rotation and quality audits, and labeling merchandise accurately, including blaster tagging and applying catch weight and produce labels. The associate will also replenish sales floors by moving freight in a first-in, first-out (FIFO) order and using equipment like reach trucks and pallet jacks to facilitate the movement and stocking of products.

Maintaining a safe and clean environment is critical in this position. The associate will ensure the store, including sales floors, front end, restrooms, and parking lots, are kept clean and safe for customers and staff. This also incorporates gathering carts from parking areas to designated zones, ensuring the carts are clean and operable.

This role emphasizes teamwork and interaction with both internal employees at various levels and external customers and service providers. Working conditions typically involve retail store settings with exposure to variable temperatures ranging from -10 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit and moderate noise levels. Physical requirements include frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and occasional climbing and bending. The position requires basic to intermediate computer skills, cash handling proficiency, and the ability to multitask and work independently or as part of a team.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and possess 6-12 months of retail cashier or stocking experience. Preferred qualifications include more than one year of retail selling or customer service experience, a strong desire to deliver exceptional customer service, solid common sense, basic mathematical aptitude, and flexibility to work holidays and weekends. Benefits include health insurance, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement plans, paid time off, short-term and long-term disability, employee stock purchase plans, and life insurance, reflecting US Foods’ commitment to supporting their employees' well-being and financial security.
