Job Description

We are a well-established retail company committed to providing an exceptional shopping experience to our customers through a combination of quality products, outstanding service, and a welcoming store environment. Emphasizing a strong connection between our customers and employees, we aim to create an impeccable shopping atmosphere known as the CHEF'STORE experience. Our company values teamwork, adaptability, and leadership within the retail industry, ensuring that our frontline staff are equipped with the knowledge and tools to exceed customer expectations while maintaining efficient store operations. The starting wage for the position is $19.66 per hour, offering an opportunity for growth and competitive compensation in a vibrant retail setting.

The role we are seeking to fill is a Front End Retail Associate. This position is vital for delivering quality customer service and managing front-end operations to ensure that customers have a smooth and pleasant experience when shopping. The Front End Retail Associate is responsible for a broad range of duties, including sales transactions, cash handling, cart transfers, product verification, stocking, customer assistance, and maintaining overall store cleanliness and safety. Flexibility is essential for this role, as shifts may vary from Monday through Sunday between the hours of 5:00am and 7:00pm based on business needs. Previous freight handling experience is considered an advantage.

In this role, you will perform essential front-end cashier functions such as scanning items using handheld devices or keypad systems, accurately weighing products, and solving barcode discrepancies by communicating with store managers. You will also assist customers directly on the sales floor, providing product information, locating items, and highlighting services available in the store. Maintaining the sales floor by receiving, stocking, and rotating inventory according to established FIFO (First In, First Out) standards is a significant component of daily work. The position requires attentiveness to detail in labeling merchandise, including applying labels for catch weight or produce items.

Customer courtesy and safety are priorities, as you will ensure that the store remains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for both customers and colleagues. This includes responsibilities such as cleaning the sales floor, restrooms, parking areas, and managing shopping carts. You may also be involved in store opening and closing duties and participate in inventory and cycle counts when necessary.

Working conditions include exposure to moderate noise levels and varying temperatures ranging from -10 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit within the store premises. This role requires physical stamina to stand and walk continuously, occasionally lift or carry items weighing more than 100 pounds, and operate equipment such as reach trucks and pallet jacks. A candidate with strong common sense, logical thinking, basic math skills, and motivational traits will thrive in this fast-paced environment. Basic computer proficiency and cash handling experience are required.

The Front End Retail Associate will interact internally across all levels of the company and externally with customers and service providers, maintaining professional and courteous communication throughout. This role is eligible for overtime compensation and comes with a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement benefits, paid time off, and more. Our benefits offerings demonstrate our commitment to supporting the well-being and future security of our employees.
