The Store Event Coordinator role at the Michaels store in Omaha, NE, is geared towards individuals who are passionate about crafts and community engagement. This position entails planning, coordinating, and facilitating events, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes, to create a memorable, stress-free, and enjoyable experience for all guests. As a key team member, the Event Coordinator will deliver exceptional customer service by assisting guests in shopping and quickly finding what they need, while ensuring smooth and friendly checkout experiences. The role requires multitasking across various operational duties such as truck unloading, merchandise replenishment, and maintaining high store recovery standards in line with Michaels’ brand promises.
The Event Coordinator will be deeply involved in event management, from scheduling and administering multiple events concurrently to engaging clients of all ages. The position demands creative instruction and demonstration skills for craft projects, including additional party features like face painting and party favors. Communication with clients and store teams is paramount to tailor events that satisfy customer expectations and ensure seamless execution. The role also encompasses administrative responsibilities like managing correspondence, paperwork, and continuously adapting event plans based on client feedback.
Customer experience is at the heart of the job. The coordinator will assist customers in locating products, promoting Michaels’ rewards programs, facilitating enrollments, and educating customers about voice-of-customer surveys. The job includes supporting the store’s omnichannel processes such as Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS). Other operational responsibilities include participating in stock management, merchandising, shrink and safety programs, and maintaining store cleanliness.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in event coordination or related field preferred
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting and bending
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively

- Ability to interact respectfully and positively with customers and coworkers

Job Duties
- Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events
- Engage with clients of all ages by creating an environment of fun and creativity
- Demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects, perform face painting and other activities
- Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons to company standards
- Communicate events with clients and store team members
- Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork
- Adjust plans and events based on client’s feedback and needs
- Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed
- Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events
- Uphold company cleanliness and safety standards
- Help customers shop, locate products, and provide solutions
- Provide fast and friendly checkout experience
- Engage customers on benefits of rewards program and private label credit cards
- Assist with omni channel processes including BOPIS and SFS
- Participate in truck unload, stocking, and planogram processes
- Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
- Perform store in stock optimization and AD set duties
- Support shrink and safety programs
- Adhere to standard operating procedures and company policies
- Interact respectfully and positively with customers and team members
- Be cross trained in custom framing selling and production
- Participate in daily store cleanliness activities including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom maintenance
- Perform other duties as assigned
