This position is located at the Michaels store in Plano, TX, situated near the Highway 121 area. The role is an essential part-time or full-time opportunity focused on event coordination and customer engagement within the store setting. The candidate will plan, coordinate, and facilitate diverse events such as children’s birthday parties and various craft classes, with an emphasis on delivering a fun, stress-free, and engaging experience for guests of all ages. This role requires a dynamic, energetic individual who can balance multiple events simultaneously while maintaining high standards of customer service.

The Event Coordinator is responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere that encourages creativity and enjoyment. They will demonstrate craft projects, instruct guests including children and seniors, and facilitate additional party services like goody bags and balloons. Administrative duties such as managing communications, responding to client feedback, and ensuring client satisfaction for scheduled events are key elements of this position. The coordinator will also uphold safety and cleanliness standards by setting up, breaking down, and tidying event areas before and after activities.

Beyond event duties, this role demands excellent customer service skills. The coordinator assists customers with shopping needs, product locations, and provides solutions to enhance their experience. Additionally, this role supports operational aspects such as fast and friendly checkouts, enrolling customers in rewards programs, and managing omni-channel processes including Buy Online Pickup In Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS). Day-to-day retail responsibilities include truck unloading, merchandise stocking, planogram adherence, and maintaining store recovery and safety programs.

The position requires physical stamina for standing long periods, moving around the store, and handling physical tasks such as lifting and accessing inventory on high shelves. Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children's birthday parties and other craft classes or events
  • Engage with clients of all ages by creating an environment of fun and creativity
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects and activities such as face painting
  • Facilitate and implement party add-ons including goody bags and balloons to company standards
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members and complete administrative tasks like answering emails and making phone calls
  • Adjust plans and events based on client feedback and needs and create backup or emergency plans
  • Ensure client satisfaction and uphold cleanliness and safety standards by setting up, breaking down, and cleaning before and after each event
  • Help customers shop, locate products, and provide solutions
  • Provide fast and friendly checkout experience
  • Engage customers on benefits of rewards programs and complete enrollments
  • Educate customers on Voice of Customer surveys
  • Assist with omni channel processes including BOPIS and SFS
  • Participate in truck unload, stocking, planogram processes, merchandise recovery, and maintenance
  • Support shrink and safety programs
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures
  • Interact with others respectfully and positively
  • Cross train in custom framing selling and production
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities
