The role of Event Coordinator at Michaels in Burlington, VT, is a part-time position focused on planning, coordinating, and facilitating various store events including children’s birthday parties and craft classes. This role is designed to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests of all ages, ranging from young children to seniors. The Event Coordinator is responsible for creating a creative environment that inspires participation and enjoyment, from hands-on craft projects to activities such as face painting and party add-ons like goody bags and balloons. The coordinator is instrumental in managing multiple events simultaneously while maintaining clear communication with clients and store team members. Administrative duties such as responding to emails, making phone calls, and paperwork completion are key responsibilities to ensure smooth event execution.

In addition to event coordination, the role involves a strong customer service component. The Event Coordinator assists customers in locating products, offers solutions, and delivers fast and friendly checkout experiences. They engage customers with information about the company’s Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, support Omni channel processes like Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS), and contribute to the overall appearance and organization of the store through merchandising, truck unloading, and planogram adherence. The position also supports safety and shrink programs, participates in daily cleaning and maintenance tasks, and may be cross-trained in custom framing selling and production.

Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events including children’s birthday parties and craft classes
  • engage with clients of all ages by creating an environment of fun and creativity

  • communicate events with clients and store team members

  • adjust plans and events based on client feedback and create backup or emergency plans
  • ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events
  • maintain the company’s cleanliness and safety standards by setting up, breaking down, and cleaning before and after events
  • help customers shop and locate products while providing solutions
  • provide fast and friendly checkout experience
  • engage customers about the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments
  • educate customers on Voice of Customer (VOC) surveys
  • assist with Omni channel processes like Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS)

  • complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
  • support shrink and safety programs
  • adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company policies
