It is well-known for offering a wide range of arts and crafts materials, framing services, and creative solutions to customers of all ages. In addition to the retail stores, Michaels owns Artistree, a manufacturer of custom and specialty framing merchandise. Michaels prides itself on creating an inclusive environment that supports innovation and creativity while focusing heavily on team member well-being and customer satisfaction.
This position is a part-time retail opportunity located in Wichita-Greenwich, Kansas. The role of Store Associate at Michaels focuses on delivering excellent customer service and helping customers navigate and shop the store efficiently. The associate is responsible for providing a fast and friendly checkout experience, complete truck unloading and merchandise duties, and maintaining organizational standards to uphold the Michaels brand promises. This is a dynamic role that combines customer interaction with physical tasks such as stocking, recovering merchandise, and supporting store operations.
Store Associates at Michaels also actively engage customers by promoting loyalty programs such as Rewards and Private Label Credit Cards, educating customers about the Voice of Customer surveys, and assisting with omnichannel shopping experiences including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS). This role demands a team-oriented mindset, ensuring compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and fostering a respectful and positive work environment. Associates are also cross-trained in Custom Framing selling and production, offering a broader skill set relevant to the company’s services.
Working in this position involves regular physical activity such as standing for long periods, bending, lifting heavy boxes, and using equipment like ladders to access high shelves. The environment is primarily a public retail store with climate control in customer areas, though some stock rooms may not be temperature-controlled. The job schedule includes flexible hours that might include nights, weekends, and early mornings to accommodate store needs.
Michaels emphasizes providing robust benefits for both full-time and part-time team members, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, tuition assistance, and discounts. The company is committed to equal opportunity employment and ensures reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities to fully participate in the job and benefit from the work environment. Overall, this role offers an engaging work experience for individuals passionate about retail, customer service, and creativity, within a supportive company culture that values diversity and inclusion.
