Happy Tails Thrift Shop is a dedicated thrift store located at 1770 Merriman Rd, Akron, OH 44313, operated by the Humane Society of Summit County. This establishment plays a crucial role in supporting local animal welfare by channeling all proceeds from sales directly into the life-saving efforts carried out at the Humane Society of Summit County shelter in nearby Cuyahoga Falls. As a community-focused organization, Happy Tails offers a unique shopping experience centered around antiques, vintage items, retro goods, and collectibles, attracting customers who appreciate nostalgic and one-of-a-kind finds. The funds raised at Happy Tails contribute to the daily care, medical treatment, and sheltering of animals in need, making every purchase meaningful and impactful.
We are currently seeking a reliable and customer-oriented individual to join our team as a part-time Cashier at Happy Tails Thrift Shop. This part-time role offers up to 24 hours per week, ideal for individuals looking to contribute to a cause they care about while gaining valuable retail experience. The Cashier is a key member of our team who ensures a positive and efficient shopping experience for customers. Responsibilities include accurately entering purchases into the register, verifying prices and quantities, applying discounts when applicable, and issuing receipts. Candidates must also be prepared to answer customer inquiries, provide helpful information about products, promotions, and the layout of the shop, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
The position is perfect for those with a passion for antiques, vintage goods, and various collectibles. Because the shop often deals with unique and diverse merchandise, the ideal candidate should have an appreciation for these types of items and be enthusiastic about sharing knowledge and offering excellent service to our customers. This role requires flexibility to work on weekends and occasionally handle physically demanding tasks, including assisting with stocking and organizing merchandise.
