Job Description
DXL Group is the largest specialty retailer of men’s Big + Tall apparel, dedicated to providing an unmatched shopping experience tailored to the unique needs of its customers. As a leader in the retail industry, DXL offers a wide range of apparel for men who require Big & Tall sizes, specializing in both private labels and well-known name brands. Their stores are strategically located in free-standing buildings rather than malls, which allows them to close earlier at around 7 pm, emphasizing a work-life balance for staff and offering a distinctive shopping environment. DXL Group prides itself on its commitment to developing its team members from within, offering numerous opportunities for growth, learning, and career advancement. This principle helps foster a motivated workplace where employees feel valued and supported in their career journeys.
The Retail Assistant Store Manager role is central to DXL’s commitment to superior customer service and operational excellence. This role is designed for individuals who are self-driven and results-oriented, with a passion for coaching and leading a team in a fast-paced retail environment. The Assistant Store Manager takes responsibility not only for managing sales targets but also for enhancing the overall shopping experience by ensuring guests feel genuinely welcomed and catered to. Through engagement and understanding of each guest’s lifestyle and preferences, the Assistant Store Manager plays a critical role in building long-lasting customer relationships that differentiate DXL from other retailers.
This role involves supporting the Store Manager to ensure that sales plans are consistently met while maintaining high standards in customer service, inventory management, expense control, and risk management. The Assistant Store Manager acts as a product knowledge expert who can effectively sell and market the brand’s broad assortment of apparel including specialized tailored clothing. A key component of the role is team development—providing continual coaching and training to sales associates to refine their selling skills, behaviors, and operational procedures. The position demands a leader who can inspire and motivate others while ensuring operational integrity and customer satisfaction.
Compensation for this position is competitive and performance-driven, reflecting the importance of both individual and team success. The pay range is between $17.50 and $26.39 per hour, including a base wage and commission based on individual sales performance, plus additional compensation to meet minimum wage requirements as necessary. Employees are also eligible for quarterly bonuses tied to the overall store sales, reinforcing the company’s culture of rewarding excellence and commitment. DXL’s culture emphasizes diversity, equity, and belonging, providing a respectful and inclusive workplace, free from discrimination or harassment across all protected categories.
