This role is a part-time, nonexempt Associate position located in a specific Potbelly shop. Working under the supervision of the General or Assistant Manager, the Associate is a crucial team member responsible for delivering an outstanding customer experience. As the primary point of contact for customers, the Associate upholds Potbelly’s values by providing fast, friendly, and efficient service while preparing quality food products according to established standards.

The Associate role demands a commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and inviting environment for all patrons. Responsibilities include preparing finished food items such as sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, and ice cream with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy. Associates must also comply with all health, safety, and food security standards to ensure customer safety and satisfaction. Engaging with customers in a positive manner to create meaningful interactions and building Potbelly fans through excellent service are central to this role.

In addition to customer service, Associates support operational tasks such as restocking the food line, managing multiple work stations, handling cash register operations, and maintaining cleanliness throughout the shop including tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, and kitchen areas. They may also be responsible for taking orders, delivering catering orders, and handling customer complaints effectively when needed.

Physical requirements for the role include standing or walking for extended periods, the ability to lift items up to 50 pounds occasionally, and tolerance for environmental factors such as noise, temperature variations, and food allergens.
