Currently, Shaner Hotels is seeking a dedicated professional to join their team at the Buffalo Marriott LECOM Harborcenter, a 205-room property situated in the vibrant Canalside Entertainment District of downtown Buffalo. The hotel offers a unique location attached to Key Bank Center, home of the NHL Buffalo Sabres, and provides easy access to attractions such as Niagara Falls. The property features modern rooms, sophisticated meeting spaces, and a renowned seventh-floor restaurant and bar with panoramic views of Lake Erie and the Buffalo skyline.

This full-time position offers an hourly wage of $20 and requires working in person. The role involves supervising all aspects of the service restaurant functions within the hotel, ensuring compliance with established operating procedures, and maintaining both food and beverage safety and quality standards set by the hotel, Shaner Hotels, and franchise specifications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for upholding a service and management philosophy that guides the staff toward delivering exceptional guest experiences.

The position demands a flexible schedule, including availability on weekends, holidays, and varied shifts. Responsibilities include maintaining operational procedures daily, establishing, and training staff in standards and safe working conditions, as well as handling guest-related concerns promptly and professionally. Clear communication with the General Manager, other department managers, supervisors, and staff is essential to ensure smooth operational flow and high productivity.

Furthermore, this position entails supporting employee performance management to foster a productive and positive work environment. Candidates should be prepared to take on additional duties as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and commitment to the team’s success. This role is integral to maintaining the high standards of service expected by Shaner Hotels and the Buffalo Marriott LECOM Harborcenter, contributing to the overall guest satisfaction and the hotel's reputation.

Job Requirements

  • Be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends holidays and varied shifts
  • Minimum one year of experience in the Restaurant Food and Beverage field
  • Previous supervisory or management experience a plus
  • High school graduate or equivalent some college preferred
  • ServSafe and or food safety training
  • Alcohol awareness training such as TIPS
  • Familiarity with food and beverage cost controls

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of experience in the Restaurant Food and Beverage field
  • Previous supervisory or management experience a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests management and co-workers to their understanding
  • High school graduate or equivalent some college preferred
  • ServSafe and or food safety training
  • Alcohol awareness training such as TIPS
  • Familiarity with food and beverage cost controls
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to accurately compute mathematical calculations and use required measurement tools
  • Ability to prepare budgets and ensure cost controls
  • Bilingual English Spanish a plus
  • Knowledge of local activities and attractions appropriate for clientele

Job Duties

  • Be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends holidays and varied shifts
  • Ensures compliance with and completion of all daily operational procedures by the Food and Beverage Department
  • Maintains food and beverage safety and quality based on hotel Shaner and Franchise specifications
  • Establishes maintains and trains standards and procedures for operations and safe working conditions in the department
  • Responsible for responding and handling guest related issues pertaining to the department
  • Ensures communication with General Manager all other Department Managers Supervisors and Staff
  • Assists in managing all aspects of employee performance to ensure productivity and a quality work environment
  • Other duties as assigned
