Job Description

MOD Pizza is a forward-thinking restaurant brand devoted to delivering customizable pizza experiences where individuality is celebrated. At MOD, pizza is not just food; it's a platform tailored to each person's unique preferences, embracing diversity and inclusivity in every dish served. MOD operates with a community-focused spirit, uniquely blending the art of fresh, made-to-order pizzas with a mission to give back, fostering a welcoming environment for both customers and employees alike. MOD presents itself as more than a kitchen; it's a stage for spreading "MODness," a culture where the energy and passion infused in every pizza have a ripple effect, powering possibilities beyond the plate. Together with a commitment to quality ingredients and vibrant community involvement, MOD upholds a culture that values every individual ingredient and every unique person contributing to the MOD experience.

As a Restaurant Shift Leader at MOD Pizza, you have the opportunity to cultivate your leadership skills within a dynamic and energetic restaurant setting. This role entails managing store operations during scheduled shifts, ensuring the store runs smoothly and maintaining the highest standards of food quality, safety, and customer service. The Restaurant Shift Leader acts as the crucial bridge between the store's team, known as the Squad, and the leadership, setting the tone for each shift by fostering a positive and welcoming atmosphere that reflects the MOD values.

The position offers competitive compensation, combining an hourly wage of $13.25 with an average tips share of $3.09 per hour, totaling $16.34 per hour. Working at MOD offers vibrant team culture and substantial benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a week of paid vacation, paid sick time, 401(k) retirement plans, free pizza, salad, and beverages during shifts, along with perks like pet insurance, discounted gym memberships, and free counseling sessions.

In this role, the Shift Leader is responsible for energizing the team, mentoring and coaching Squad members in real-time, and ensuring all operational standards and safety protocols are met. The leader is also a keyholder responsible for cash handling, inventory management and maintaining the store’s equipment, escalating issues as necessary. Flexibility is essential, as the leader will sometimes guide from the front, lead behind the scenes, or dive into operational duties to keep the MOD experience exceptional. Beyond operational responsibilities, the Shift Leader prioritizes the growth, well-being, and celebration of Squad achievements, further reinforcing the collaborative MOD culture.

MOD champions a set of core values that every employee embodies: embracing change and continuous improvement, focusing on solutions, generosity with time and compassion, demonstrating patience and grace, and actively creating a safe and inclusive environment. The restaurant strongly encourages leadership that models MOD's culture and standards, inspiring others to thrive and delivering exceptional customer service consistently.

Applicants should have a minimum of six months in the All Star position with proven coaching and multitasking skills or obtain approval for exceptions. At least one year of customer service or restaurant experience is required, along with being at least 18 years old. Prior experience in coaching and inspiring others, strong adherence to processes and standards, and the ability to stay calm and focused in a fast-paced environment are critical. Food safety and alcohol beverage certifications must be obtained within the first 30 days of employment or sooner if mandated by law.

The job demands physical capability to function in an open kitchen environment, including ability to bend, lift up to 50 pounds, operate kitchen tools and equipment safely, and communicate effectively in English. Working conditions may include high noise levels, indoor and outdoor settings, shift variability including evenings and holidays, and exposure to moving mechanical parts and refrigeration units.

MOD Pizza is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, providing reasonable accommodations for applicants throughout the hiring process. The role does not guarantee employment contract or alter at-will status and may include additional related duties to fulfill business needs. Join MOD to be part of a vibrant team where individuality and team spirit intersect in a culture that is truly "MOD." Apply today and become a part of our people vibe!
