The Shift Leader role at Whataburger is vital in ensuring the smooth operation and success of the restaurant during each shift. As a Shift Leader, you take on the responsibility of driving operational excellence, coaching and motivating team members, managing shift performance, and creating an energetic and supportive atmosphere. This position acts as a pivotal link between the restaurant management team and Family Members, helping steer daily operations with precision and heart. The Shift Leader role involves leading by example to maintain quality, service, and cleanliness standards, as well as managing cost controls including labor and food costs. Leaders in this role inspire their teams to work efficiently during busy periods, uphold safety and sanitation standards, and foster a positive, collaborative culture that encourages accountability and open communication. Job Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • possess a high school diploma or GED preferred or equivalent experience
  • be able to meet business needs and have open availability including overnights, weekends, holidays, variable hours, and maintain dependable attendance
  • have ability to stand up to 10 hours, lift up to 55 lbs, and meet physical demands
  • have experience coaching or leading teams
  • strong customer service, communication, and multitasking skills
  • possess ServSafe Food Certification or the ability to successfully obtain and pass the exam during training

Job Duties

  • Lead shift management to maintain quality, service, and cleanliness standards
  • coach, train, and motivate Family Members helping new hires acclimate quickly and seasoned team members improve skills
  • support goals related to food cost, labor cost, sales performance, and inventory processes
  • uphold food safety, workplace safety, sanitation, and compliance requirements
  • foster teamwork, communication, accountability, and a positive work culture
  • prepare, lead, and transition shift operations to keep the restaurant running efficiently
