Job Description

Since 1950, Whataburger has grown into an iconic brand in the restaurant industry, with a passionate commitment to exceptional customer service, operational excellence, and employee development. The company is dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive workplace where each team member feels valued and empowered. Whataburger offers career growth opportunities, competitive pay, and comprehensive benefits designed to foster both personal and professional success. Their commitment to quality food and customer satisfaction remains at the core of everything they do, making them a leader in quick-service dining nationwide.

The Shift Leader role at Whataburger is essential to the seamless and efficient operation of their restaurants. This position acts as the spark that keeps the restaurant running smoothly by driving operational excellence and leading shift teams with heart and enthusiasm. As a Shift Leader, you will be instrumental in coaching and motivating Family Members, helping them develop skills and confidence while ensuring that every shift meets high standards of quality, safety, and customer service. This leadership role requires a balance of strong interpersonal skills, the ability to manage fast-paced environments, and a commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive workplace culture.

Shift Leaders work directly with Restaurant Managers to refine their leadership capabilities and operational knowledge, positioning themselves for future career advancement. Shift Leaders also play a critical role in supporting business goals by monitoring food and labor costs, managing inventory tasks, and driving sales performance. Flexibility and dependability are crucial as the position requires working various shifts including day, night, evening, and overnight hours, as well as weekends and holidays. With competitive weekly pay, paid time off, 401(k) matching, and a suite of medical and wellness benefits, Whataburger ensures that Shift Leaders are supported both on and off the job.

Beyond the day-to-day responsibilities, Whataburger provides a robust culture of recognition, education support with scholarship options, free English language classes, and college-level courses to promote career growth. Team members also enjoy discounts on meals, wireless services, and fitness memberships, along with awards celebrating their contributions. The company’s ethos is grounded in working together, serving with heart, and progressing boldly, making it an excellent workplace for individuals seeking to build a meaningful and rewarding career in the restaurant industry.
