As we expand to a new location in Lawrence, Kansas, Q39 is building an exceptional management and support team to continue the tradition of excellence. The Server Assistant role is a crucial part of this team, responsible for helping servers and the kitchen connect seamlessly for outstanding guest experiences. Employment is hourly at $8.00 plus a tip pool, making it a rewarding position not only for personal growth but also with competitive compensation.
The Server Assistant plays an integral part in maintaining the smooth operation of the dining room by supporting servers, ensuring food quality, presenting dishes impeccably, maintaining cleanliness, and interacting warmly and professionally with guests. This role requires multitasking capabilities, attention to detail, and a passion for team collaboration. Responsibilities include following directions meticulously from the Expo Lead to maintain an efficient expo pass system, delivering plates promptly and safely, confirming guests’ satisfaction, and helping create an organized and welcoming dining environment.
Additionally, the Server Assistant will uphold Q39’s standards of professionalism, positivity, and reliability. Continuous communication with both guests and team members helps ensure any needs or issues are addressed swiftly, further enhancing the guest experience. The position also involves keeping carry-out and retail stations well-stocked and presentable, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to quality throughout all service areas.

Job Requirements
- Reliable and hardworking server assistant with experience supporting servers in fast-paced dining environments
- strong ability to maintain cleanliness and organization of dining areas, including bussing and resetting tables
- skilled in assisting with food running, beverage refills, and guest needs to ensure smooth service flow

Job Duties
- Maintain an efficient expo pass system
- follow the direction of the Expo Lead at all times
- ensure all plates leaving expo meet Q39 standards for presentation, accuracy, and quality
- confirm items are complete, visually appealing, and free from issues before running them to the guest
- run food promptly and safely to the correct tables
- engage guests with warm, professional service after each delivery
- confirm guests are happy with their meal
- ask if guests need anything additional
- offer further assistance before leaving the table
- communicate guest needs to the server or Expo Lead immediately
- pre-bus tables consistently to maintain a clean, organized, and enjoyable dining environment
- assist servers by monitoring table needs, water refills, and guest requests
- keep the carry-out station organized, stocked, and ready for fast service
- restock retail items as needed while ensuring the area remains clean and visually appealing
- be positive, professional, reliable, and team oriented
- support continuous improvement by communicating issues, offering solutions, and helping proactively solve problems
