Job Description

Chena Hot Springs Resort is a renowned hospitality establishment located approximately 60 miles northeast of Fairbanks, Alaska. Founded in 1905, the resort has grown tremendously over the years, establishing itself as a premier destination for travelers seeking unique experiences in the Alaskan wilderness. The resort is famous for its natural hot springs, renowned for their curative powers, which attract visitors from all over the world. Beyond the hot springs, Chena Hot Springs Resort offers a variety of sustainable green initiatives, including a geothermal power plant and an on-site greenhouse that contribute to its eco-friendly mission. Guests can enjoy an array of activities such as dog sledding, aurora viewing tours, ATV rides, horseback riding, and professional massage services, making it a diverse and attractive destination for adventure seekers and nature lovers alike.

The resort prides itself on combining natural beauty with modern amenities, offering year-round access via a state-maintained road. Chena Hot Springs Resort not only provides a tranquil and rejuvenating environment but also fosters a vibrant work atmosphere supported by its dedicated team of hospitality professionals. As part of its commitment to quality service and memorable guest experiences, the resort is currently seeking hardworking and enthusiastic individuals to join its team as Servers. This employment opportunity involves living on-site at the resort, providing a unique experience to immerse yourself in the Alaskan hospitality culture.

The Server position is pivotal in creating a welcoming and enjoyable dining environment for guests. Responsibilities include greeting guests, serving meals throughout the day—including breakfast, lunch, and dinner—and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the dining areas. Servers at Chena Hot Springs Resort play a crucial role in connecting with guests, ensuring that each visitor's experience is exceptional and memorable. Coordination with kitchen and restaurant staff is essential, requiring good communication skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This role requires the physical ability to work extended periods and manage the demands of serving in a busy resort setting.

The ideal candidate will be at least 21 years old, in compliance with Alaskan state laws for alcohol service, and preferably possess prior restaurant experience, including knowledge of cocktail and mixed drink preparation. Certifications such as TAPS and ServSafe are preferred or candidates should be willing to obtain them. A high school diploma or GED is desirable, and the ability to prioritize tasks and remain detail-oriented is crucial to success in this role. Work shifts will vary and require flexibility between morning and evening hours.

Employment with Chena Hot Springs Resort offers several valuable perks, including free accommodation in single or double occupancy rooms, two meals per day, access to employee dining, and the chance to participate in resort activities, including unlimited access to the hot springs. Shuttle service is also available for employees when space permits, enhancing convenience during the work term. This position promises not only a rewarding career but also a chance to enjoy one of Alaska's most beautiful and tranquil locations while gaining valuable hospitality experience.
