Job Description

Salt Wood Kitchen & Oysterette is a premier culinary destination located in the vibrant Monterey area, known for its diverse dining experiences and commitment to exceptional guest service. This establishment features three distinct dining environments: a full-service dining room, a lively bar and lounge, and an al fresco dining patio. Central to Salt Wood's unique atmosphere is its experiential oyster bar and live-fire kitchen, which serve as the heart of the restaurant, providing an engaging and memorable dining experience. The restaurant caters to a wide variety of guests, from casual cocktail enthusiasts on the patio to large parties in its multifunctional meeting spaces and private dining rooms. Salt Wood Kitchen & Oysterette prides itself on its dedication to quality and innovation, ensuring guests experience a culinary adventure like no other.

Salt Wood Kitchen & Oysterette is part of the HHM Hotels family, a renowned hospitality company that values inclusivity, excellence, and sustainability. HHM Hotels is committed to creating a supportive and rewarding work environment for its employees, offering competitive wages, comprehensive benefits, and numerous opportunities for professional growth. The company upholds non-discrimination policies and fosters an environment where all team members can thrive regardless of their background or identity.

The role of a Restaurant Server at Salt Wood Kitchen & Oysterette involves delivering an exceptional food and beverage service experience that aligns with both the brand's standards and HHM Hotels' sustainability initiatives, such as their EarthView program. Servers play a crucial role in guest satisfaction by taking accurate orders using point of service systems, ensuring timely delivery of food and beverages, and maintaining clean and well-stocked service stations. Their responsibilities also include preparing guest checks, handling payment transactions, and occasionally assisting with bartending and bussing duties during busy periods or staff shortages. This position requires adherence to safety protocols, including the use of protective equipment and compliance with OSHA standards, to maintain a secure workplace.

This opportunity offers a clear growth path, with potential advancements from Restaurant Server to Supervisor and further leadership roles such as Captain, Restaurant Manager, and Banquet Manager. Candidates with previous food and beverage experience or equivalent training are preferred, along with knowledge of POS systems and a High School diploma or equivalent. While TIPS certification is preferred, it is not mandatory. Salt Wood Kitchen & Oysterette emphasizes a positive and collaborative team environment where excellent guest service and sustainability practices are at the forefront.

The restaurant operates with a flexible work schedule that may include weekends, holidays, and alternate shifts, reflecting the dynamic nature of the hospitality industry. Physical demands such as standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, lifting up to 25 pounds, bending, and reaching are part of the job requirements. Employees are encouraged to embody HHM Hotels' core values, including People Are Our Capability, Hearts That Serve, Only Excellence, Stay Nimble, and Own It. This role not only offers a chance to contribute to an outstanding hospitality experience but also provides a supportive platform for personal and professional growth within the vibrant food and beverage sector.
