With a strong brand presence and a commitment to customer satisfaction, Jack in the Box operates numerous units across the United States, creating a dynamic workplace filled with opportunities for growth and development. The company values integrity, teamwork, and customer focus, striving to provide excellent service and delicious food to all its guests while fostering a positive employee culture. Jack in the Box is dedicated to maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements and adhering to high standards of safety and cleanliness across all locations.
The role of Restaurant General Manager at Jack in the Box is critical to the overall success of each individual unit. This position involves overseeing the comprehensive daily operations of the restaurant, ensuring that the Service Profit Chain (SPC) and the Brand Promise are effectively executed. The Restaurant General Manager is responsible for cultivating a team-oriented environment that emphasizes excellent internal service, outstanding external guest service, and a focus on meeting sales and profit targets. This role requires a hands-on leader who is committed to motivating employees, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and upholding the brand’s standards for quality and customer satisfaction. The manager is also accountable for implementing all company policies and procedures related to food safety, labor laws, and operational standards.
In addition to managing the restaurant staff through recruitment, training, and development, the Restaurant General Manager plays an integral role in analyzing operational performance using management information tools. By reviewing sales data, quality reports, service feedback, and compliance audits such as health inspections, the manager identifies trends and opportunities for improvement. This data-driven approach ensures that the restaurant continuously enhances the guest experience while optimizing financial performance. The manager is expected to be a role model for guest service excellence and to maintain a professional, respectful, and motivational atmosphere among the team. Leadership qualities such as integrity, communication skills, calmness under pressure, and ethical behavior are essential to succeed in this position.
On a daily basis, the Restaurant General Manager is tasked with making high-quality decisions based on experience and company policies. This requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to delegate appropriately, and follow up on delegated tasks to ensure successful completion. The role demands flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and the willingness to embrace change initiatives while maintaining a strong sense of urgency in achieving business goals. The position also involves actively engaging with guests to resolve concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring that every guest leaves with a positive impression of Jack in the Box.
Candidates for this position should possess a high school diploma or GED, with higher education such as an associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred. Relevant management experience is required, either from internal promotion within Jack in the Box or from managing a service-oriented establishment with full profit and loss responsibility. Essential certifications include ServSafe and completion of restaurant manager training classes. Furthermore, the candidate must be at least 18 years old, proficient in English communication, and capable of performing basic math and utilizing computer software efficiently. Physical requirements include the ability to stand and walk for most of the shift, lift moderate weights, operate restaurant equipment, and drive a vehicle for business purposes. Jack in the Box is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities to ensure equal employment opportunities and support the successful performance of job duties.
