The Manager position at Salt Lake Brewing Co LC is a full-time, salaried role focused on overseeing the overall daily operations and profitability of the restaurant. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this role is critical in maintaining excellence in customer service while managing all aspects of the restaurant's front and back of house teams. The Manager's responsibilities include supervising hourly staff during all hours of operation, coordinating with the brewery management, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to labor, alcohol service, and health standards.

This leadership position demands a hands-on approach to managing the restaurant environment, from controlling costs to handling sales, and from employee recruitment and training to actively resolving guest concerns. The Manager acts as the face of the restaurant in interactions with brewers, wholesale partners, retailers, and customers, promoting the Salt Lake Brewing Co LC brand with passion and professionalism. Working closely with the Chef and other management staff, the Manager ensures that all food and beverage products meet strict quality and safety standards, adhering to established recipes and procedures.

In addition, the Manager plays a vital role in maintaining the restaurant's facilities, including overseeing opening and closing procedures, security measures, and the presentation of retail and to-go beer items. Financial responsibilities include reconciling cash, managing inventory, processing invoices, and completing orders in a timely manner to maintain operational viability.

The job requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, able to multitask and prioritize duties while leading a team with respect and clear communication. Physical and mental endurance are essential due to the demands of the role, including lifting heavy items such as kegs and working in varying conditions. Candidates must possess certifications relevant to food safety and alcohol handling, including Cicerone Certified Beer Server, ServSafe Food Handler Manager, and applicable alcohol certifications.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Cicerone Certified Beer Server certification required
  • ServSafe Food Handler Manager certification required
  • Alcohol certification required
  • Minimum 2 years full-service restaurant experience
  • Strong computer literacy skills
  • Intermediate to advanced computer knowledge focusing on Microsoft Office Suite
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lead and manage a team
  • Proven problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience working in a fast-paced hospitality environment

Job Duties

  • Demonstrate leadership and teamwork while working respectfully with all team members
  • Communicate clearly while demonstrating willingness to help all team members
  • Provide and manage a safe workplace environment for all staff members
  • Provide and manage a harassment-free workplace for all staff members
  • Oversee daily front of the house and back of the house restaurant operations
  • Report any issues, concerns, or pertinent items in daily HotSchedules Manager Logbook notes
  • Manage reservations according to reservation policy, check and confirm all reservations and work in coordination with the event coordinator where applicable
  • Ensure daily pre-shift meetings are taking place with staff to inform them of happenings in the restaurant
  • Ensure complete adherence to all federal and local laws including but not limited to all labor, dram shop, DABC laws and licensing requirements
  • Complete all assigned Area of Responsibility tasks as delegated by General Manager
  • Ensure superior service is offered to all guests and is a priority of all restaurant managers and staff
  • Act as an ambassador for visiting brewers, wholesale partners, retailers, and others
  • Assist staff with ensuring timely service while ensuring accurate execution of food items
  • Respond to all guest complaints and work to proactively resolve them within company procedures and guidelines
  • Recruit staff while working with other managers and human resources and complete all requisite employee paperwork and onboarding processes
  • Ensure scheduling standards and practices are being met for all staff
  • Manage staff including rewarding good performance, coaching sessions, written warnings, suspensions or termination
  • Ensure that staff adheres to company policies and procedures
  • Manage strong employee retention practices
  • Ensure that staff receives continual training necessary for job competency
  • Work with Chef to ensure all food and beverage products are prepared and presented in accordance to written recipes and specifications with menu integrity
  • Protect consumer health with strict adherence to all sanitary and safe food handling mandates and practices
  • Maintain and troubleshoot all aspects of various kitchen equipment
  • Promote and serve Salt Lake Brewing Co LC beer in a fashion that communicates the brewery's passion for quality and excellence
  • Liaise and communicate with brewery management and staff
  • Maintain and troubleshoot all aspects of multiple draft beer dispensing systems
  • Ensure the proper standards are followed for restaurant set up, including opening and closing procedures and all security measures
  • Ensure all building premises are appropriately and adequately maintained, organized and secured
  • Maintain strict security standards to avoid theft or damage
  • Ensure that retail and to-go beer items are properly stocked and aesthetically maintained
  • Ensure that all invoices are expeditiously accounted for accurately
  • Reconcile all cash at the end of the night and accurately record daily deposit
  • Ensure that all beer and retail item transfers from brewery to taproom are accurately entered into accounting systems
  • Conduct periodic inventories accurately while working with District Manager or Vice President
  • Ensure orders for all items are completed in a timely and efficient manner that provides for the financial viability operations
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned
