Job Description
Blue Coyote at Talking Stick Resort is a prominent dining establishment located within the renowned Talking Stick Resort, a luxurious casino and entertainment venue in Scottsdale, Arizona. Blue Coyote is known for delivering an exceptional food and beverage experience, focusing primarily on authentic and elevated southwestern cuisine. As part of the Food & Beverage Department at Talking Stick Resort, Blue Coyote contributes to the resort’s commitment to outstanding hospitality and customer satisfaction. The resort itself offers a vibrant mix of gaming, entertainment, dining, and relaxation, catering to guests from all over, including locals, tourists, and high-profile visitors. Blue Coyote plays a vital role in enhancing the overall guest experience through its restaurant services and ambiance.
The role of Restaurant Manager at Blue Coyote is a dynamic and integral position within the food and beverage operations. Reporting directly to the Food & Beverage Manager, the Restaurant Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating activities related to the restaurant’s front-of-house operations. This role involves managing the restaurant staff, overseeing products and services, and ensuring financial targets are met while maintaining the highest standards of customer service. Supervisory responsibilities extend to managing the Lead Restaurant Supervisor, Dining Shift Supervisors, and a non-supervisory Sommelier. This includes hiring, training, evaluating staff, and resolving employee or customer issues efficiently.
The Restaurant Manager ensures that daily restaurant operations run smoothly, including overseeing floor operations, coordinating menu and pricing changes on POS systems such as InfoGenesis, and collaborating with chefs for promotional food specials. The position also involves coordinating with the IT department to display menus on casino monitors and assisting in advertising strategies to promote the restaurant. Additionally, the manager is charged with approving employee schedules and verifying the validity of casino complimentary slips used for food and beverage services.
Inventory management is a critical area of responsibility, encompassing monthly counts and control of restaurant china, glassware, and silverware. The manager implements safety and hygiene policies, ensuring compliance with sanitation and personal hygiene standards as mandated by state and departmental guidelines. Daily financial reconciliation of cash registers with POS receipts is routine, with responsibilities for documenting any variances.
Training and development are emphasized, with the manager orchestrating customer service training programs and ongoing staff development initiatives. The manager also actively participates in preparing operating plans and budgets, conducting performance evaluations, and managing disciplinary procedures in line with company policies. They ensure compliance with tribal guidelines, particularly in hiring and training Tribal Members.
This full-time position demands strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Experience requirements include 8 to 10 years in the food and beverage industry, with at least 5 years in a management role. Knowledge of Arizona State Liquor Laws and possession of a Maricopa County Food Handler’s Card are mandatory. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, POS systems like InfoGenesis, payroll systems such as Kronos, and inventory systems like SWS is expected. The role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment, sometimes dealing with noisy settings and exposure to heat, cold, and humid conditions. The manager must be physically capable of standing for extended periods and handling up to 25 pounds regularly.
In summary, the Restaurant Manager at Blue Coyote at Talking Stick Resort is a leadership position that blends hands-on management with strategic oversight. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to one of Arizona's premier resort restaurants, ensuring guests receive superior food, beverage, and service experiences that match the resort's high standards.
