As a company, TA emphasizes growth and innovation, continually expanding its network of locations while embracing cutting-edge technology and championing sustainability initiatives. Headquartered in Westlake, Ohio, the company fosters a culture where every employee is a valued stakeholder in its ongoing success. This collaborative and dynamic environment provides abundant career opportunities where individuals can contribute their ideas, develop professionally, and help shape the future of TA.
The role of Restaurant General Manager at TravelCenters of America is a pivotal position responsible for leading the operations and marketing functions of full-service restaurants within TA’s travel centers. The General Manager ensures the delivery of high-quality food services and a clean, welcoming restaurant environment for all guests. This leadership position involves overseeing staffing, training, and staff development to promote an enthusiastic and knowledgeable team that delivers fast, friendly, and efficient customer service. As the primary leader on-site, the General Manager plays a crucial role in recruiting and retaining high-quality team members, coaching employees, and fostering a positive culture where everyone feels respected and recognized for their contributions.
Financial management is a key focus, with the General Manager expected to achieve profitability goals through effective control of labor costs, inventory, payroll, and other operational processes. The role also requires adherence to safety and compliance standards, vendor relationship management, and maintaining awareness of competitive market practices to provide insightful recommendations to company leadership. Flexibility and hands-on involvement are essential, as the General Manager must be willing to assume hourly associate duties when necessary to support team functions and customer satisfaction.
This role offers a competitive salary range from $55,000 to $65,000 annually, reflecting the candidate’s experience and job responsibilities. TravelCenters of America values servant leadership, seeking candidates who lead by example and are dedicated to training and motivating their teams. Ideal candidates have strong planning and analytical skills, are proficient in Microsoft Office and POS systems, and possess excellent communication abilities. The position requires a valid driver’s license and the willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
At TA, the General Manager position is more than a job; it’s an opportunity to play an integral role in the daily experience of thousands of travelers, ensuring they return to the road in better condition than when they arrived. This role embodies TA’s commitment to quality, customer satisfaction, and team development, offering a rewarding career path with room for growth and professional advancement within a supportive, forward-thinking company.
