Job Description

Sweetgreen is a nationally recognized fast casual restaurant brand committed to building healthier communities by connecting people with real, fresh food sourced from local farmers. Founded in 2007, Sweetgreen specializes in nutritious salads and bowls focused on organic and sustainable ingredients that promote wellness and environmental responsibility. With its headquarters and multiple locations across the United States, Sweetgreen has redefined fast food by emphasizing quality, transparency, and community impact. The company values diversity and equal opportunities for all employees regardless of gender, race, age, or any protected status. Sweetgreen also provides equal opportunity to develop careers within both restaurants and corporate support centers, fostering a collaborative environment where employee growth and mentorship are prioritized.

The role of Restaurant Manager, also referred to as Assistant Coach or Assistant General Manager at Sweetgreen, is a dynamic and hands-on leadership position that demands operational excellence, strategic thinking, and strong mentorship abilities. The Assistant Coach supports the store operations by partnering with the Head Coach (General Manager) to lead, inspire, and develop the team while ensuring exceptional guest experiences aligned with Sweetgreen's brand values. This influential role requires using data-driven insights to manage scheduling, sales, food safety, guest satisfaction, and cost control to foster both a welcoming atmosphere and profitable operations. The Assistant Coach is heavily involved in recruiting, onboarding, training, and motivating staff, creating a culture of trust and accountability. Additionally, the role requires overseeing food quality, safety audits, and compliance standards to maintain Sweetgreen's reputation for providing fresh and safe meals.

As a crucial leader, the Restaurant Manager must be adept at balancing operational duties, team coaching, problem-solving under pressure, and maintaining positive communication. A typical day involves hands-on support during busy periods, troubleshooting issues, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures, and leveraging technology platforms for scheduling and operational management. Sweetgreen encourages team members to grow into future leaders through ongoing coaching and career development pathways, and the Assistant Coach carries the responsibility of guiding team members to achieve their full potential. This opportunity presents an inspiring and rewarding career path with competitive pay, commission potential, comprehensive benefits, and a vibrant workplace culture centered on community, sustainability, and food innovation.
