Job Description

This job opportunity is with an independently owned and operated Jack in the Box restaurant franchise. Unlike corporate-owned units, this franchise operates autonomously, with the independent franchisee managing all employment-related decisions including hiring, firing, discipline, wages, supervision, staffing, and scheduling. This means that the successful candidate will be an employee of the franchisee, who is fully responsible for all personnel and operational aspects of the restaurant. Jack in the Box is a well-known fast-food brand famous for its quick service and diverse menu offerings. As an independent franchise, the restaurant offers a more personalized management environment with the flexibility to adapt to local market needs while maintaining the strong brand values and standards of Jack in the Box.

The role of Restaurant Manager in this Jack in the Box franchise is pivotal in overseeing the daily operations and ensuring that the restaurant upholds the brand promise and effectively executes the Service Profit Chain (SPC) strategy. The Restaurant Manager has overall accountability for driving restaurant sales and profitability while ensuring compliance with all operational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. This leadership position requires a balance of team development, operational management, and exceptional customer service skills.

The Restaurant Manager is responsible for recruiting, selecting, training, and evaluating restaurant employees to develop a high-performing team. Ensuring the implementation of thorough training systems for all staff on workstations and operational procedures is crucial, along with monitoring staff levels to maintain an optimal workforce. The role also involves identifying and nurturing internal candidates for future management or team leader positions, fostering career growth and advancement opportunities within the restaurant. A fundamental part of the job is creating a positive workplace culture that is employee-friendly, enjoyable, clean, and safe, promoting motivation and high performance through recognition and reward programs.

From the operational perspective, the Restaurant Manager oversees daily activities to achieve excellence in restaurant performance. This includes ensuring each team member delivers exceptional guest service and consistently meets food quality standards according to Jack in the Box's established systems and safety protocols. The manager must continuously review and adapt practices to improve the guest experience, actively engaging with customers, addressing any concerns swiftly, and ensuring positive resolutions. Maintaining the cleanliness, maintenance, and overall brand image of the restaurant is a top priority, and the manager serves as a role model in service excellence.

This role demands strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to effectively manage both employees and customers. The Restaurant Manager must have a thorough understanding of JIB systems, processes, and tools, and possess a sound knowledge of applicable state and federal labor laws and regulations. The position requires a proactive attitude, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of service and operational efficiency. The Restaurant Manager plays a key role in sustaining the success of the franchise by balancing financial goals with employee and customer satisfaction, making it an exciting and challenging leadership opportunity at the frontline of the restaurant industry.
