Job Description

Sweetgreen is a renowned national restaurant brand with a passionate mission to build healthier communities by connecting people to real food. Established in 2007, Sweetgreen has revolutionized fast food by offering fresh, flavorful, and wholesome meals crafted with locally sourced, organic, and sustainable ingredients. The company is deeply rooted in relationships with farmers and communities, demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainability and health-conscious living. Sweetgreen's innovative approach has made it a leader in the fast-casual restaurant industry, with a growing presence across the United States. The company prioritizes not only exceptional food quality but also the development of its employees, offering clear career paths, inclusive work environments, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.

The role of Assistant Coach (Assistant General Manager) at Sweetgreen is a dynamic leadership position designed for individuals who are passionate about inspiring teams and delivering outstanding guest experiences. As an Assistant Coach, you will play a critical role in supporting your store by acting as a leader, strategist, and mentor. You will collaborate closely with the Head Coach (General Manager) to set goals, track performance, and drive operational excellence. This role demands a hands-on leader capable of coaching and developing team members into future leaders while maintaining smooth day-to-day store operations.

You will be responsible for fostering a positive team culture based on trust and recognition, actively participating in hiring, onboarding, and training processes. Your leadership will ensure that operational needs are anticipated and addressed efficiently through effective team deployment and clear communication. Food safety and quality are top priorities, and you will uphold rigorous standards by inspecting food quality, managing equipment maintenance, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. Additionally, your role includes partnering with the Head Coach to resolve facility, supply, and quality issues promptly.

Customer experience is central to Sweetgreen's brand, and as Assistant Coach, you will ensure that guests enjoy a clean, hospitable, and brand-aligned environment. Using data-driven insights and guest experience metrics, you will make timely business decisions to deliver fast, accurate, and memorable in-store and digital dining experiences. Financial acumen is also essential, as you will manage controllable costs, execute scheduling efficiently, and support sales growth through strategic planning based on operational data.

Embracing technology is key to your success in this role. You will leverage operational systems and tools to troubleshoot issues, prioritize tasks, and enhance team efficiency. Carrying out the full spectrum of duties associated with the Assistant Coach career path—including responsibilities typically assigned to Shift Leaders, Kitchen Leads, and Team Members—ensures your comprehensive understanding of store operations.

Sweetgreen offers a competitive starting salary range of $51,000 to $59,000 USD, based on experience, plus a 15 percent bonus potential. This full-time role provides a host of benefits to support health, wellness, and financial security. With a collaborative team spirit, a clear career path, and a mission-driven culture, Sweetgreen is an ideal employer for those eager to make a meaningful impact and grow within the fast-casual restaurant industry.
