Job Description

Sweetgreen is a nationally acclaimed fast casual restaurant brand that has been dedicated since its founding in 2007 to building healthier communities by connecting people to real, fresh food. Known for its commitment to vibrant, flavorful meals made with local, organic, and sustainable ingredients, Sweetgreen has redefined the fast food experience by fostering strong relationships with farmers and local growers. As it continues to grow, Sweetgreen emphasizes developing its team members and leaders, ensuring that they thrive personally and professionally within an inclusive, diverse, and mission-driven environment.

This role, Assistant Coach (Assistant General Manager), at Sweetgreen combines operational leadership, strategic thinking, and mentorship to help lead the store’s daily functions. The Assistant Coach works closely with the Head Coach to foster a culture grounded in trust, recognition, and continuous improvement, directly impacting the quality of guest experiences and overall business performance. The Assistant Coach is a hands-on leader who supports recruitment, onboarding, and team development while ensuring operational excellence across areas such as food safety, guest services, cost control, and system management.

Key responsibilities include driving high standards for food quality, safety, and cleanliness, implementing effective scheduling, and managing costs to optimize store profitability. The role demands exceptional communication skills for fostering positive team culture, delivering on brand standards, and using data-driven insights to make informed business decisions. This position is ideal for professionals experienced in fast casual restaurant management who are passionate about health, sustainability, and creating outstanding guest experiences.

Sweetgreen offers competitive base salary complemented by a 15 percent bonus potential and comprehensive benefits designed to support employees’ overall well-being. These include medical, dental, and vision insurance options tailored to employees and their families, paid vacation and wellness time, a 401(k) program, paid family leave supporting new parents, plus additional perks such as complimentary greens and company-branded apparel. Employees have access to a collaborative workplace culture that lives its core values and provides clear career advancement opportunities.

Joining Sweetgreen as an Assistant Coach presents a unique chance to be part of a movement that prioritizes real food, community wellness, and sustainable business practices. This role is not only about operational success but about shaping the future of how communities connect through food, staff development, and company culture. The successful candidate will be a confident decision-maker with strong problem-solving skills, a reliable multitasker with leadership experience, and a committed advocate for a healthy, inclusive work environment.
