Job Description
This job opportunity is offered by an independent franchisee of Del Taco, a well-known fast-casual restaurant brand specializing in Mexican-inspired cuisine. Unlike corporate-owned locations, this restaurant is independently owned and operated, meaning the franchisee is directly responsible for all employment-related matters including hiring, firing, wages, supervision, and scheduling. Del Taco is recognized for its commitment to quality food, exceptional service, and a fun and dynamic work environment. As a leading brand in the quick-service restaurant (QSR) industry, Del Taco continues to grow by delivering fresh, made-to-order menu items and creating memorable dining experiences for customers.
The role of Restaurant Manager is a pivotal leadership position reporting directly to the Area Director. This individual is charged with protecting and delivering the Del Taco brand promise, ensuring operational excellence, and driving sales growth while maximizing restaurant efficiency and profitability. The Restaurant Manager leads all aspects of restaurant operations through the guiding principles of the Del Taco Way, a philosophy emphasizing quality food, superior customer service, and employee development.
The manager is responsible for fully staffing the restaurant with high-quality team members by recruiting, hiring, training, and retaining all employees. Creating a service-oriented culture that promotes teamwork, fun, and employee growth is a core aspect of the job. Performance management including evaluations, salary recommendations, and disciplinary measures are key responsibilities. Additionally, the Restaurant Manager must ensure all team members are trained and certified according to current company standards and maintain compliance with safety, cleanliness, and operational guidelines.
Operational duties include maintaining the facility and customer areas, ensuring all equipment meets safety and operational standards, adhering to cleaning schedules, and delivering food products that meet stringent Del Taco quality standards. Consistency in service, proper employee attire, and adherence to promotional signage guidelines are also critical.
Financial goals focus on achieving or exceeding sales plans, increasing customer counts and loyalty, and maximizing customer value through excellent service and marketing initiatives. The Restaurant Manager also manages staffing levels relative to actual sales to control labor costs, complies with labor laws, and controls inventory to minimize waste and prevent theft. Cash handling procedures, safety protocols, and vendor management are critical for profitability. The manager plays a vital role in executing marketing campaigns and local store marketing efforts to attract new customers.
This position requires a hands-on leader who is fluent in English (Spanish is a plus), possesses strong communication and organizational skills, and has a proven ability to manage, motivate, and develop a diverse team to support long-term career growth. The role demands excellent analytical, problem-solving, and math skills, along with the ability to work effectively under pressure with minimal supervision.
Working conditions include office and restaurant environments, requiring extended periods of standing, sitting, typing, and computer use. Physical activity such as reaching, bending, lifting, and driving between locations—including overnight travel—is expected. A valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance are required. This position provides a meaningful opportunity to impact the success of an independent franchise within a respected and expanding QSR brand. The employment relationship is "at-will," and the employer is dedicated to providing an equal opportunity workplace free from discrimination and harassment, fostering respect and dignity for all employees.
