Known for its innovative approach in the fast casual restaurant sector, Sweetgreen offers a welcoming and energized atmosphere where customers can enjoy thoughtfully prepared dishes crafted with care and integrity. Beyond serving delicious food, Sweetgreen is dedicated to fostering a positive impact on its employees, customers, and the planet, emphasizing inclusivity, sustainability, and community engagement at every level.
The role of Assistant Coach (Assistant General Manager) at Sweetgreen is a crucial leadership position designed for hands-on leaders who thrive in fast-paced environments and are passionate about people, operations, and delivering outstanding customer experiences. As an Assistant Coach, you will work closely with the Head Coach (General Manager) to support all aspects of the store's operations, from team development and hiring to driving sales performance and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality. This role demands a balance between leading by example and strategic planning, where you will mentor team members to become future leaders while utilizing data-driven insights to address operational challenges and enhance guest satisfaction.
Your responsibilities will include partnering with leadership to set clear goals, managing controllable costs, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and fostering a vibrant team culture based on trust and recognition. You will directly influence the in-store and digital guest journey by enforcing company standards and making timely decisions that uphold Sweetgreen’s brand values. Additionally, this position requires conducting shift leader duties, which involve executing critical functions to maintain smooth daily operations and excellent employee performance.
Sweetgreen values leadership qualities such as problem-solving skills, confident decision-making under pressure, excellent communication, and the ability to inspire and mentor a diverse team. With at least two years of restaurant management or supervisory experience, you will manage and develop a team of six or more members per shift and maintain certifications like Food Handler or ServSafe. This full-time role offers a competitive salary ranging from $60,000 to $68,000 per year, including a 15% bonus potential, making it an attractive opportunity to grow both professionally and personally within a supportive company committed to equity and inclusion. Sweetgreen’s comprehensive benefits package and career development paths further enhance the value and appeal of this position.
