Job Description

This restaurant is part of a well-known quick service restaurant (QSR) brand, operated by an independent franchisee rather than directly by Del Taco LLC. By joining this establishment, you will be employed by the independent franchisee who is responsible for all personnel-related matters including hiring, firing, wages, scheduling, and supervision. The franchisee maintains the unique culture and operational standards of the Del Taco brand while acting autonomously. This creates a professional environment that values entrepreneurship within a structured, globally recognized system, offering employees opportunities to contribute directly to local business success.

The role available is that of a Restaurant Manager who reports directly to the Area Director. The Restaurant Manager serves as the linchpin for executing the brand's mission and vision at the store level, ensuring that every customer receives an outstanding experience that aligns with Del Taco's high standards. This position demands a strong leader who will oversee all aspects of the restaurant’s operations, including staffing, training, customer service, sales growth, and profitability enhancement. The successful candidate will embody the Del Taco Way—a philosophy centered on quality, respect, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include fully staffing the store with competent personnel to maintain smooth operations, recruiting, hiring, and retaining talent, and ensuring all employees complete training certifications to preserve service quality. The manager fosters a service-oriented culture emphasizing fun and teamwork, aiming to boost employee engagement and customer satisfaction. Performance evaluations and disciplinary actions are handled professionally, ensuring high morale and accountability within the team. Additionally, the restaurant manager develops future leaders by mentoring team members and encouraging career advancement.

Operational excellence is critical, requiring the manager to enforce brand standards meticulously. This encompasses maintaining cleanliness, safety, equipment functionality, uniform compliance, signage adherence, and delivering consistent high-quality products and services. Sales growth is a priority, achieved by setting and communicating sales goals, optimizing staff allocation based on customer traffic, and implementing local marketing strategies to increase customer count and check average. Awareness of the local market environment and competition is also vital.

The manager is responsible for achieving or exceeding profitability targets by managing labor costs in line with sales, complying with labor laws, controlling inventory, reducing waste, conducting cash audits, and ensuring strict adherence to safety standards. Efficient management of service vendors and cost control are crucial components for profitability. The role is dynamic and may require adapting to various business conditions such as emergencies, workload fluctuations, and promotional campaigns.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent and 3 to 5 years of experience in either quick service or full-service restaurant management. A ServSafe certification is required, showcasing a commitment to food safety and quality standards. Strong communication skills, organizational prowess, analytical problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to lead and motivate a diverse team are essential. Fluency in English is required, with Spanish language skills considered a valuable asset.

The physical demands include working in both office and restaurant settings, requiring extended periods of standing, sitting, bending, lifting, and the ability to operate a computer. There is also a need for travel between restaurant locations, occasionally requiring overnight stays. A valid driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance are mandatory for this role.

This position offers an opportunity to develop professionally within a supportive, fast-paced environment and be part of a brand dedicated to quality, innovation, and community engagement. The independent franchisee's commitment to equal employment opportunity ensures a respectful workplace free from discrimination and harassment, fostering diversity and inclusion at all levels.
