Job Description
This job opportunity is with a restaurant independently owned and operated by a franchisee of Del Taco, a well-known fast-casual dining establishment specializing in Mexican-inspired cuisine. Unlike corporate-owned outlets, this franchise operates autonomously, meaning that the franchisee is the official employer responsible for employment decisions, including hiring, wage setting, and disciplinary actions. This ownership structure offers a unique environment where local management can tailor operations to better serve the community while adhering to the high standards and brand values established by Del Taco. The restaurant is committed to providing a memorable customer experience by combining quality food with efficient, friendly service.
The position open is for a Restaurant Manager who will report directly to the Area Director. This individual plays a pivotal role in upholding and delivering the Del Taco brand within the restaurant. The primary objective is to grow sales and enhance the restaurant's profitability by managing resources effectively and leading the team according to the principles known as the Del Taco Way. The manager bears the responsibility for recruiting, hiring, and retaining a skilled workforce to ensure the restaurant operates at optimal capacity. Creating a service-oriented culture, fostering teamwork, and building an enjoyable work atmosphere are essential to achieving this goal.
Operational excellence is another crucial aspect of the role. The Restaurant Manager must ensure that all staff members are fully trained and certified to meet Del Taco’s standards. They will oversee adherence to company processes and ensure all food products meet quality and safety standards set by Del Taco. The manager is also tasked with maintaining the cleanliness and safety of both the facility and equipment, ensuring a consistent, positive service experience for every customer.
To grow sales and build customer loyalty, the Restaurant Manager must communicate clear sales goals and maximize restaurant capacity by placing the right staff in strategic positions relative to sales forecasts. They will also execute marketing campaigns flawlessly, participate in local store marketing activities, and stay connected with the community to capitalize on local events and competition awareness. These efforts are aimed towards increasing customer visits and average transaction size.
Profitability management is also a significant focus area. Responsibilities include managing labor efficiently, complying with labor laws, controlling inventory to minimize waste and theft, overseeing cash handling procedures, and maintaining safety and health protocols. The Restaurant Manager must manage operational costs prudently, including repairs and supplies, while achieving targeted controllable cost goals.
Ideal candidates for this role will have a high school diploma or equivalent, 3 to 5 years of experience in the quick-service or full-service restaurant industry, and ServSafe certification. Candidates should possess excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team. Proficiency in English is required, and Spanish language skills are a plus. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods, perform tasks involving bending and lifting, and travel to various restaurant locations within the assigned area. A valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance are mandatory.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic restaurant team, directly impact the success of a busy operation, and grow professionally within the Del Taco brand family. The franchisee is committed to equal employment opportunities, fostering an inclusive work environment that values respect and diversity. While the position entails significant responsibility and accountability, it is supported by a collaborative management structure designed to help restaurant leaders thrive and deliver exceptional dining experiences.
