Job Description

The position is with a restaurant operated by an independent franchisee of Del Taco, which means you will not be employed by Del Taco LLC but by the franchise owner directly. This independent franchisee manages all employment-related aspects including hiring, firing, wages, supervision, and scheduling. Del Taco is a well-known quick-service restaurant chain that specializes in Mexican-inspired cuisine. The franchisee’s goal is to uphold the Del Taco brand standards, driven by a commitment to quality, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.

The role of Restaurant Manager is pivotal in delivering the Del Taco brand experience to customers, ensuring that both sales growth and operational efficiency are optimized. Reporting directly to the Area Director, the manager leads the restaurant team by embodying the Del Taco Way — a set of core values and operational standards aimed at creating a fun, service-oriented culture with a focus on teamwork and customer satisfaction. This position involves managing a team of employees, from recruitment through development, and ensuring staff adherence to brand training and certification.

A key responsibility is to maximize the profitability of the restaurant by consistently delivering quality products and maintaining the restaurant’s appearance and equipment to the highest standards. The manager will be expected to handle staffing based on sales projections, ensuring labor compliance, and managing inventory effectively to reduce waste and prevent theft. Customer service excellence is a priority, requiring the manager to foster a positive customer experience through speed, quality, and consistent service. Additionally, the manager will actively participate in local store marketing initiatives to attract and retain customers, while managing costs and vendor relationships.

This role requires proven leadership skills, organizational acumen, and an ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision. The position includes performance evaluation, recommending salary adjustments, administering disciplinary action when necessary, and promoting employee learning and career advancement within the team. Physical requirements include spending extended periods on feet, some lifting, and the ability to travel between restaurant locations.

Overall, this is a dynamic management opportunity in a fast-paced quick-service restaurant setting, ideal for individuals with strong communication skills, a passion for team leadership, and a commitment to operational excellence in the food service industry. Given the franchise nature, employment conditions including wages and specific requirements are set by the independent franchisee. This role is critical to the success of the local franchise operation by driving sales, reinforcing brand standards, and motivating employees to excel in their roles.
