Job Description
This job opportunity is with a restaurant operated by an independent franchisee of Del Taco, a popular fast-food Mexican cuisine chain. It is important to clarify that the employer is the independent franchisee, not Del Taco LLC. This means that the franchisee is solely responsible for all employment-related decisions including hiring, firing, wages, discipline, and scheduling. Working with an independent franchisee means you are part of a more localized business operation with direct involvement and leadership from the franchisee itself. Del Taco is known for its quality fresh food offerings such as tacos, burritos, and quesadillas, which have made it a well-known brand in the fast-casual dining industry.
The role is for a Restaurant Manager who will report directly to the Area Director and will be at the forefront of maintaining and delivering the Del Taco brand experience through the unique culture and operational standards known as the 'Del Taco Way.' This position is vital to growing sales and maximizing the restaurant's efficiency and profitability. As the Restaurant Manager, you will lead the team by creating an exceptional service culture that prioritizes customer satisfaction while driving daily operational excellence.
The Restaurant Manager will be responsible for staffing the restaurant with qualified employees by effectively recruiting, hiring, and retaining team members. They will also ensure all personnel are properly trained and certified according to Del Taco’s current training processes. Building a positive and fun work environment that encourages teamwork and promotes growth through leadership development is a critical part of this role.
Operational responsibilities include enforcing brand standards at every customer touchpoint, maintaining the physical condition of the restaurant, adhering to safety and health guidelines, and overseeing equipment maintenance. Managers are expected to consistently deliver quality food products that meet Del Taco’s high-quality standards and maintain cleanliness in the restaurant.
Meeting sales and profitability goals is another key aspect of this position. This involves monitoring customer counts, driving sales through local marketing initiatives, and ensuring optimal staffing aligned with business needs. The Restaurant Manager will need to manage labor costs, control inventory, and implement cash handling procedures to protect the restaurant's assets and profitability.
This position requires strong leadership and communication skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving. The ideal candidate will have experience working in both quick-service and full-service restaurant environments and possess a ServSafe certification. Fluency in English is required, and Spanish language skills are a plus, allowing for better communication within diverse teams and customer bases.
Physically, the role involves spending extended periods standing, sitting, and engaging in activities such as reaching, bending, and lifting within both office and restaurant settings. The candidate must be able to travel to restaurant locations as required and possess a valid driver’s license with proof of vehicle insurance. This job offers a dynamic work environment where managing multiple priorities, working under pressure, and adapting to changing circumstances are everyday realities.
As part of the Del Taco family, even under independent ownership, there is a commitment to equal employment opportunities and fostering an inclusive workplace free from discrimination or harassment. Employment remains at-will, offering both the franchisee and employee flexibility in the working relationship. The Restaurant Manager plays a critical role in embodying these values while driving business success and team development.
