Job Description
This job posting is for a restaurant position with Del Taco, operated by an independent franchisee. The franchisee is solely responsible for all staffing, employment decisions, hiring, firing, wages, and overall management related to the restaurant operations. This means while the Del Taco brand is represented, the actual employer and management policies come directly from the independent franchisee.
Del Taco is a well-known fast-food restaurant chain specializing in Mexican-inspired cuisine such as tacos, burritos, and other related fast-food items. The company operates numerous locations across the nation using a franchise model. This particular role focuses on ensuring that the independent franchise delivers the brand experience and operational excellence expected of Del Taco customers while managing the team and daily operations to maximize profitability.
The Restaurant Manager position plays a critical leadership role and reports to the Area Director. The manager is charged with protecting and delivering the Del Taco brand by growing sales and ensuring financial success through operational efficiency and team leadership. This involves full responsibility for staffing the restaurant with quality team members by recruiting, hiring, and retaining employees who are well-trained and certified in accordance with Del Taco’s standards. Creating a positive and service-oriented culture that promotes fun and team collaboration is also a core part of the role.
Key aspects of the role include performance evaluation, administering disciplinary actions when necessary, and fostering the development and growth of team members for future leadership potential. Operational excellence is emphasized through adherence to brand standards, maintenance of facilities and equipment, quality control, cleanliness, uniform compliance, and ensuring consistent customer service and proper point of purchase signage.
In addition, the Restaurant Manager is tasked with meeting or exceeding sales goals by optimizing staffing, increasing customer counts and average tickets, executing promotions flawlessly, and leveraging local store marketing efforts to attract new customers. They must be aware of local market conditions, seasonal events, and competition to position the store effectively and ensure a high level of customer loyalty.
Profitability is managed by aligning labor levels with sales, strictly complying with labor laws, controlling inventory and waste, safeguarding cash handling, monitoring safety and health protocols, managing vendor services efficiently, and controlling costs related to repairs and maintenance.
This position demands a high level of operational knowledge, leadership ability, organizational skills, problem-solving capacity, and the ability to work under pressure. Candidates are required to be ServSafe certified, fluent in English with Spanish as a plus, and have proven experience in the quick service restaurant (QSR) industry or full-service concepts, with at least 3 to 5 years preferred. The manager should have excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills alongside the ability to motivate a diverse team while fostering an environment of learning and career growth.
Physical requirements of the role include working in both office and restaurant environments, with extended periods of standing, sitting, typing, and computer screen use, as well as occasional bending, reaching, and lifting. The position also requires driving to multiple restaurant locations within an assigned area, including some overnight travel, necessitating a valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance.
This role provides the opportunity to be an integral part of a growing and dynamic restaurant franchise, promoting a reputable brand with a strong franchise network while managing day-to-day operations to achieve business goals and provide excellent customer experiences. Employment is at-will and adheres to equal opportunity employment policies ensuring a discrimination-free workplace. The independent franchisee is committed to a respectful, engaging, and safe working environment for all employees.
