The Restaurant Line Cook position at Great Wolf offers an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant team focused on culinary excellence and guest satisfaction. This role involves working in a fast-paced kitchen environment to prepare food items that meet the standards set by the executive chef. Line cooks at Great Wolf handle various cooking stations including pantry, fryer, broiler/grill, sauté, dessert station, and banquet or buffet action stations. Their responsibilities include following recipes precisely, ensuring food quality and presentation, maintaining food safety and sanitation regulations, and supporting kitchen operations through inventory management and equipment upkeep. This role requires the ability to multitask, stay organized, and communicate effectively with culinary leadership and team members. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two years of experience as a cook in a similar setting
  • Knowledge of food preparation techniques and sanitation standards
  • Ability to use POS and kitchen display systems
  • Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Capability to obtain local or state food handling permits and ServSafe certification
  • Successful criminal background check and drug screening
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Able to stand for long periods
  • Able to work in hot and cold environments
  • Able to bend, stretch, and twist
  • Able to work around moderate noise levels

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two years of cook experience in similar environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food preparation and sanitation
  • Ability to use Point of Sale and Kitchen Display Systems
  • Flexibility in scheduling including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to obtain food handling permits and ServSafe certification
  • Successful completion of background check and drug screen
  • Culinary certification or degree preferred
  • Experience with à la carte or buffet line cooking preferred
  • Resort or hotel cooking experience preferred
  • Previous leadership experience preferred
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Professional and positive attitude

Job Duties

  • Maintain and follow all department operating procedures
  • Ensure completion of daily temperature logs, cleaning logs, line check sheets, and food waste sheets
  • Ensure compliance with all food-handling and sanitation regulations
  • Perform food preparation tasks for fruits, vegetables, meats, poultry, fish, etc.
  • Execute food orders according to guest preference while managing multiple orders
  • Prepare food per recipe guidelines and adjust flavors with supervisor assistance
  • Control recipes by weighing and measuring designated ingredients
  • Coordinate with Main Kitchen Cook for daily prep, restocking, meal breaks, and cleaning duties
  • Monitor and manage inventory of supplies and food
  • Maintain clean and sanitary work environment
  • Follow Ecosure or similar food safety standards
  • Maintain and operate kitchen equipment including troubleshooting and preventive maintenance
  • Assist and support operation requests from Sous Chef, Executive Chef or leadership
  • Communicate shift information with culinary leader at end of shift
