The Host/Hostess position at the Motor Bar & Restaurant within the Harley-Davidson Museum offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team in a unique cultural venue. This role is crucial in ensuring that guests receive a warm welcome and exceptional service from the moment they arrive. The job involves greeting and seating guests promptly and courteously, managing seating arrangements based on availability and guest preferences, and facilitating a safe, clean, and enjoyable dining atmosphere. The Host/Hostess also collaborates closely with food-service associates, oversees dining room activities to maintain high service and sanitation standards, and supports team members by helping to train new staff. Flexibility and excellent communication skills are essential in this position, as well as the ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently. This role may also include occasional bussing, food service assistance, and operation of restaurant equipment, contributing to the smooth operation of the dining experience. Job Requirements

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Prior customer service experience preferred
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Flexibility to work varying shifts including evenings and weekends

- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards

Job Duties
- Promptly and warmly greets and directs guests to their tables based on availability or desired seating arrangements
- Helps create an overall enjoyable dining experience and promotes a safe, clean and neat environment for guests and other associates
- Exhibits exceptional communications skills

- Maintains a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information that is shared
- Supervises the activities of food-service associates in the dining room to ensure proper customer service, food handling and sanitation procedures are followed
- Helps train new food-service team members
- Supervises the closing of the assigned dining room
- ensures side work and station setup is properly completed
- Demonstrates knowledge of emergency safety procedures and helps evacuate guests to safety in the event of fire or other emergency
- Assists with service, including occasional bussing and food service, while maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards
- May be asked to operate equipment, including but not limited to fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells and coffee machines
- Works with staff of other departments to perform job duties and during special events or functions
- Performs other duties as assigned
