Job Description
Lester's is a seafood-centric restaurant that is set to open in late May 2026, offering a unique dining experience deeply rooted in seasonal ingredients, coastal influences, and disciplined culinary techniques. As part of the respected Obstinate Hospitality group, Lester's embodies a commitment to quality, consistency, and craftsmanship that the group is known for through their previous successful ventures—The Obstinate Daughter and Wild Olive restaurants located in Charleston, South Carolina. Lester's aims to create a welcoming yet precise environment, operating seven days a week and beginning with dinner service before gradually expanding to lunch. The restaurant focuses on providing a smooth and memorable guest experience, supported by attentive service and a well-structured kitchen operation.
Obstinate Hospitality prides itself on thoughtful leadership, superior service, and an enduring dedication to ingredient-driven cooking. It is recognized for nurturing enduring local staples rather than pursuing rapid expansion. The group has a well-earned reputation for consistency, warmth, and hospitality, with a close-knit team environment that values respect and positive working conditions. The introduction of Lester's in Savannah marks an exciting extension of this philosophy, also linking it to boutique hotel experiences with The Douglas.
The host role at Lester's is a vital, proactive position responsible for creating an excellent first impression and managing the flow of the dining room to ensure a seamless service experience. Hosts are the initial point of contact, setting the tone of hospitality by greeting guests warmly and professionally as soon as they arrive. This position requires strong organizational skills, clear communication, and a high level of composure under pressure. The host must balance table availability with kitchen capacity, managing reservations, walk-ins, and waitlists while anticipating guest needs and ensuring timely seating.
In this role, it is essential to maintain accurate control over the seating chart, communicate effectively with servers and management, and handle guest inquiries and expectations with professionalism and attentiveness. The host supports the team by assisting in service-related tasks and administrative duties, ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the entryway, and upholding health and safety standards at all times.
Lester's is seeking individuals who are composed, confident, and attentive to detail, capable of reading the pulse of the dining room, and proactive in addressing potential challenges. Joining the team offers an opportunity to grow within a respected restaurant group known for its commitment to leadership and the well-being of its employees. The work environment is founded on fairness, respect, and transparent communication, aiming to foster a workplace where both staff and guests feel comfortable and valued throughout their experience.
