Job Description
Nordstrom, Inc. is a leading American luxury department store chain widely recognized for its exceptional customer service, premium products, and commitment to delivering an outstanding shopping experience. Established with the mission to inspire and empower customers through a curated selection of high-quality apparel, accessories, shoes, and beauty products, Nordstrom has expanded its footprint with numerous stores across the United States and a robust online shopping platform. The company culture prioritizes employee satisfaction, diversity, and community involvement, creating a vibrant and inclusive work environment for staff across all levels.
As a key player in the retail and hospitality industry, Nordstrom is currently seeking a highly motivated and friendly Host/Hostess to join its restaurant team as part of its customer service division. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that values professionalism, teamwork, and excellence in service delivery. The Host/Hostess position is essential to the seamless operation of the restaurant, serving as the first point of contact for guests and ensuring they receive a warm welcome and timely seating.
This is a flexible, hourly position with a pay range between $16.45 and $17.15, varying according to location and individual experience. Employees may have varying weekly schedules depending on business needs, offering a great opportunity for individuals seeking adaptable hours. Besides competitive pay, this role may be eligible for performance-based incentives or bonuses, adding to the overall compensation package. Nordstrom’s restaurant staff benefit from comprehensive benefits, including medical, vision, dental, retirement plans, paid time off, and other employee support resources.
The daily responsibilities of the Host/Hostess include greeting and seating customers promptly and professionally, sharing knowledge about the restaurant's menu and products to enhance the customer experience, and supporting training efforts for new employees by offering positive reinforcement and assistance. Additional duties may include helping with telephone calls, processing financial transactions, general stock management, cleanup, and documentation tasks. This variety ensures a well-rounded experience and fosters skill development in the hospitality sector.
Nordstrom values individuals who excel in communication, thrive in fast-paced environments, and possess flexibility in scheduling. Having a food handler’s card, where required by regulations, and experience in food service or hospitality, preferably over one year, are advantageous attributes for candidates looking to succeed in this role. The company's inclusive culture and dedication to employee growth make this an excellent opportunity for those seeking to develop their careers in the retail hospitality industry while contributing to a respected brand.
Nordstrom also emphasizes compliance with legal regulations and offers accommodations for applicants with disabilities, ensuring fair and equitable hiring practices. They provide comprehensive information about employee benefits and legal notices via their career site, enabling employees to understand their rights and privileges fully. This transparency and commitment to employee welfare position Nordstrom as an employer of choice in the retail and hospitality landscape.
