The Host/Hostess position at Lessing's Hospitality Group plays a critical role in shaping guests' first impressions and ensuring a seamless dining experience. Responsible for greeting guests both in person and over the phone, the host or hostess provides attentive and friendly service that sets the tone for an enjoyable visit. This role involves managing seating arrangements efficiently, presenting menus, and taking orders to relay them accurately to the kitchen staff. Hosts and hostesses also oversee the preparedness of the dining area, ensuring cleanliness, availability of menus, and correct table settings. Additionally, the position includes responsibilities related to event support such as setting up tables and maintaining both the interior and exterior of the restaurant. This hourly position offers competitive pay ranging from $16.50 to $20.00 per hour for NY-based employees and includes benefits such as paid time off, 401K, and medical, dental, and vision coverage for full-time staff. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in customer service or hospitality preferred
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods
  • Flexible availability including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Basic math skills

Job Duties

  • Greet guests and patrons personally and on the telephone
  • Offer appropriate seating arrangements
  • Present menus and take orders
  • Ensure the quantity of menus is sufficient to cater to the number of guests
  • Relay orders to the kitchen and ensure all orders are filled in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Set up dining rooms and make reservation arrangements
  • Maintain clean and organized tables and work area
  • Manage event related work including setting up tables and maintaining both exterior and interior of the restaurant
