The role of General Manager at Wooden Paddle is central to steering the restaurant to continued success. This full-time position offers a base salary ranging from $90,000 to $100,000 per year, with additional quarterly bonuses based on sales, profitability, and completion of special projects. The General Manager will be responsible for overall restaurant operations, including leadership, hospitality, team development, financial performance, and community engagement. You will work a semi-set schedule tailored to the restaurant's busiest periods, typically around 50 hours per week spread over five days, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with days off usually scheduled back-to-back. The position demands a high level of hands-on leadership, attention to detail, process management, and a passion for creating a positive guest experience.

As General Manager, you will lead the recruitment and development of a high-performing team, ensuring each member is effectively coached and positioned to contribute to the restaurant's vibrant culture and outstanding service standards. Championing playful hospitality, you will set the tone for an atmosphere that guarantees guests a good time every visit. Operational excellence is paramount, as you ensure smooth day-to-day restaurant functioning from open to close. Financial acumen is also critical, as you manage the profit and loss statement, control costs, and drive sales growth to maximize profitability.

Job Requirements

  • At least 5 years of high-volume restaurant experience in a General Manager, or equivalent, role
  • a bachelor's degree in hospitality management, or equivalent work experience
  • upscale or fine-dining restaurant experience in a General Manager role, a major plus
  • must have current ServSafe Manager and BASSET certifications
  • must be at least 21 years old
  • must have open availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • must have the ability to regularly work 50-ish hours per week
  • physically able to stand for long periods and keep up with the pace of busy restaurant
  • must have a valid driver's license and sole access to a personal vehicle
  • must have access to a personal computer or tablet for administrative tasks
  • familiarity with Toast, SevenRooms, 7Shifts, and Margin Edge, a plus

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management or equivalent work experience
  • minimum 5 years of high-volume restaurant experience in a General Manager or equivalent role
  • experience in upscale or fine-dining restaurants is a major plus
  • current ServSafe Manager and BASSET certifications
  • strong leadership and team development skills
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • proficiency with restaurant management software such as Toast, SevenRooms, 7Shifts, and Margin Edge is a plus
