Job Description
The Sunny Hotel in Sunny Isles Beach is a distinguished oceanfront property with a rich legacy spanning three generations of family ownership. Formerly known as the Newport Beachside Hotel, this 340-room modern beachfront destination has been thoughtfully transformed to blend contemporary design with the heritage of South Florida's most storied beachfront site. The Sunny offers guests an immersive hospitality experience featuring multiple dining concepts and vibrant social spaces that cater to both visitors and the local community alike. Known for its ambitious culinary programs and refreshed guest experiences, The Sunny has quickly established itself as a premier location for relaxation, entertainment, and exceptional service right on the waterfront.
Among the highlights of this dynamic property is Citrus Shack, a lively pool and beachside restaurant that plays a central role in the hotel’s food and beverage offerings. Positioned at the heart of the pool and beach experience, Citrus Shack serves a diverse menu of carefully crafted, crowd-pleasing dishes that seamlessly complement an extensive beverage selection. The restaurant prides itself on high-volume service delivered with a consistent quality that feels elevated yet approachable, creating an inviting outdoor dining atmosphere from morning through sunset. It is designed to support the energetic rhythm of a full day by the water, encouraging guests to relax and enjoy flavorful food and drinks in a casual setting.
The Restaurant General Manager at Citrus Shack holds a critical leadership position responsible for the strategic and daily operational oversight of the venue. This role reports directly to the Director of Food & Beverage and encompasses full front-of-house management, ensuring every guest interaction exceeds expectations and drives the outlet’s financial success. The General Manager is charged with leading and mentoring a high-performing team, fostering a culture grounded in professionalism, accountability, and authentic hospitality. Collaboration with the culinary team is crucial to maintain excellence in food preparation and presentation within a demanding, high-volume environment.
In addition to team leadership, the general manager must exhibit strong financial management capabilities, including labor cost control, revenue maximization, and P&L stewardship. This position also involves rigorous compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations, particularly in the context of outdoor operations where variables can be more complex. Operational precision is maintained through oversight of POS systems, inventory, reporting, and cash handling, ensuring accuracy and transparency. The General Manager further supports the broader hotel experience by partnering with leadership across departments to coordinate special programming and events, enhancing guest engagement.
Ideal candidates for this role bring a blend of hospitality expertise, financial acumen, and interpersonal skills. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume setting while nurturing a positive work environment is essential. The Restaurant General Manager is not only a manager but a brand ambassador who shapes the overall guest experience at The Sunny’s vibrant poolside and beach venue. This is an exceptional opportunity for a dynamic leader eager to contribute to a growing and exciting destination in Sunny Isles Beach.
