Job Description
Border Foods began as a simple idea between two brothers to open a Mexican restaurant and has since evolved into one of the largest privately held Taco Bell franchisees in America. This company is renowned for its people-first mantra, focusing on fostering a supportive environment where every employee, from cooks and cashiers to restaurant managers and beyond, is valued and empowered to grow. Border Foods prides itself on embodying core values such as Accountability, Integrity, Family, Excellence, Teamwork, and Empowerment, which guide the entire team in making lives better every day. The company creates spaces that are safe, welcoming, and supportive, allowing both employees and guests to thrive while delivering an exceptional restaurant experience. Border Foods' commitment to its people and culture makes it a distinguished player in the quick-service restaurant industry, positioning it as a fantastic place to develop a rewarding career in restaurant management.
The General Manager role at Border Foods is a leadership position central to the success of each restaurant location. This position involves full responsibility for overseeing restaurant operations while embodying the core values of Border Foods to reinforce a culture of collaboration and outstanding service. As a General Manager, you will lead a strong, motivated team that consistently delivers great food and a friendly experience to customers. The job requires strategic planning and financial management skills, including interpreting profit and loss statements to make informed decisions that maximize profitability. You will be responsible for hiring, training, and developing excellent team members, ensuring that they are well-prepared to uphold quality standards and operational goals. Maintaining health and safety standards and adhering to all local, state, and federal regulations is critical to the role, as is managing inventory control, labor efficiency, and minimizing waste.
In addition to these operational duties, the General Manager fosters a positive work environment by building strong relationships within the team and responding promptly and effectively to both employee and customer issues. This role demands exceptional communication and coaching skills to drive performance, provide ongoing development opportunities, and motivate team members toward success. General Managers at Border Foods enjoy top industry pay with opportunities to earn up to $100,000 annually, including base pay and bonus potential. They are also rewarded with exclusive incentives such as annual trips to Mexico for high performers, scholarship programs, tuition reimbursement, medical, dental, and vision benefits offered even to part-time employees, free food, paid vacation, sick leave, holiday pay, and more. The role is demanding, requiring a minimum 50 hours per week, including variable hours such as early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, but offers a dynamic culture committed to career growth and mutual support. This is an exempt management position based in Ada, MI, providing a challenging yet highly rewarding opportunity for passionate leaders in the restaurant industry. The position also includes physical demands such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and moving intermittently during working hours, with reasonable accommodations provided as needed. Border Foods is an Equal Opportunity Employer dedicated to diversity and inclusion, welcoming applications from minorities, women, protected veterans, and individuals with disabilities without discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation. Applicants should note that Border Foods operates as an independent franchisee of Taco Bell and is the sole employer of its team members.
