Job Description
Border Foods started as an ambitious idea between two brothers to create a Mexican restaurant and has grown to become one of the largest privately held Taco Bell franchisees in the United States. The company is deeply rooted in a people-first mantra, emphasizing the well-being and development of its team members, from cooks and cashiers to restaurant managers and beyond. Border Foods prides itself on a culture that promotes learning, evolution, and continuous improvement, fostering an environment where every employee can thrive and contribute to its mission of making lives better.
As a General Manager at Border Foods, you are entrusted with upholding the company’s core values: Accountability, Integrity, Family, Excellence, Teamwork, and Empowerment. The role is vital in ensuring the smooth overall operation of the restaurant, which includes building and leading a strong team dedicated to delivering excellent food and a welcoming customer experience. General Managers play a critical part in creating a safe, supportive, and motivating environment that positively impacts both employees and customers.
This position offers a highly competitive compensation package, with base pay potentially reaching up to $100,000 a year, alongside substantial bonus opportunities that can add up to an additional $40,000 annually. The role is exempt management, generally requiring a minimum of 50 hours per week with flexibility to cover busy periods including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Border Foods is committed to recognizing and rewarding its top performers, including providing annual trips to Mexico as part of their 'Best of the Best' program.
In addition to competitive pay, Border Foods provides comprehensive education programs, including GED assistance, tuition reimbursement, and scholarship opportunities, reflecting its dedication to employee growth and career development. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance available even to part-time employees, plus perks like free meals, paid vacation time, sick leave, and holiday pay. The company fosters a positive culture that encourages empowerment and advancement within the organization.
The General Manager is tasked with a wide range of responsibilities: overseeing daily restaurant operations; ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and legal regulations; managing payroll and profit and loss statements; maintaining inventory controls; minimizing losses; hiring, training, and developing team members; and delivering an exceptional dining experience through fast, friendly service. Leadership and communication skills are essential to navigate challenges, resolve concerns proactively, and motivate the team toward shared success and excellence.
Border Foods values inclusivity and is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer that does not discriminate based on gender identity, sexual orientation, or any protected characteristics. The company aligns with the highest standards while operating independently as a Taco Bell franchisee, setting its own wage and benefits programs matched to its business goals and team needs. A successful General Manager at Border Foods will be a strategic planner, a people-focused leader, and a dedicated advocate for both customers and staff alike.
