Job Description
Border Foods started as a simple idea between two brothers to open a Mexican restaurant and has since evolved into one of the largest privately held Taco Bell franchisees in the United States. With a deep commitment to a people-first mantra, Border Foods prioritizes empowering its team members across all levels – from cooks and cashiers to restaurant managers. The company fosters a culture centered around its core values: Accountability, Integrity, Family, Excellence, Teamwork, and Empowerment. Each employee at Border Foods is not only part of a larger family but also given opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully to the company’s mission of making lives better.
Border Foods is currently seeking a General Manager for its Chaska, MN location. This role is an essential leadership position responsible for the comprehensive operation and success of the restaurant. The General Manager’s primary mission is to uphold and reinforce Border Foods’ core values, cultivating an environment where both employees and guests enjoy a safe, welcoming, and supportive atmosphere in which everyone can thrive. This leadership role demands a strategic, hands-on mindset focused on ensuring the highest standards of food quality, friendly customer service, effective team management, and operational excellence.
As a General Manager, you will be responsible for managing the entire restaurant’s day-to-day functions while simultaneously building and nurturing strong, motivated teams that consistently deliver exceptional customer experiences. The role emphasizes driving operational success by planning strategically, controlling costs, maximizing sales performance, and fostering a high-performing culture. In addition to operational duties, there is a significant focus on employee development. The General Manager acts as a mentor and coach, unlocking the full potential of team members with ongoing learning opportunities, feedback, and performance coaching.
Border Foods invests heavily in its people, offering competitive compensation with the potential to earn up to $100,000 annually, including base pay plus top-tier bonus opportunities that can add up to $40,000. Exceptional performers are rewarded with experiences such as an annual trip to Mexico. Beyond financial rewards, employees gain access to education programs including GED and tuition reimbursement, scholarships, and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits that are available even to part-time staff. Other perks include free food, paid vacation, sick and holiday pay, a vacation donation program, and a culture dedicated to career growth and support.
This role is perfect for an experienced restaurant or retail professional who is passionate about customer service, employee development, and operational management. You must demonstrate accountability and integrity, ensuring high standards are consistently met while building a cohesive team and positive work environment. The ability to navigate challenges, resolve employee issues promptly, and communicate effectively with diverse audiences is essential. As an exempt management position, expect to work a minimum of 50 hours per week, with additional hours as required to meet business demands. A ServeSafe certification and relevant management experience are also required.
If you are ready to join one of America’s largest private Taco Bell franchisees and make a meaningful impact on the lives of both customers and team members, Border Foods is the ideal place to advance your career. Become part of a company that truly values people, fosters excellence, and rewards success with great compensation and unmatched culture.
