Job Description
Border Foods began as a vision shared between two brothers aiming to open a Mexican restaurant, which has since evolved into one of the largest, privately held Taco Bell franchisees in America. With an unwavering commitment to their people-first mantra, Border Foods places a strong emphasis on cultivating a positive work culture where every team member - from cooks to cashiers to restaurant managers and beyond - is valued and empowered. As a dynamic and expanding franchise, Border Foods combines the power of a well-recognized brand with a family-oriented approach, fostering continuous learning, growth, and evolution for all employees. Border Foods is headquartered in the Midwest region of the United States, with multiple locations spread across various states. The company prioritizes Core Values such as Accountability, Integrity, Family, Excellence, Teamwork, and Empowerment as guiding principles that shape every aspect of its operations and relationships.
The General Manager role at Border Foods is a crucial leadership position charged with overseeing the successful operation of entire restaurant locations. This role is designed for an individual who is deeply committed to reinforcing the company's Core Values while delivering an exceptional customer experience and supporting the development of a high-performing team. As a General Manager, you will be responsible for cultivating an environment where employees feel safe, welcome, and supported, leading to improved performance and guest satisfaction. Your mission will be to positively impact the lives of employees and guests alike by offering opportunities for growth and by maintaining operational excellence.
Salary for this role ranges from $50,000 to $100,000 annually, inclusive of a base salary and potential bonuses, making it one of the top-paying positions within the industry segment. Additional benefits include a robust bonus program with the potential to earn up to $40,000 in bonuses annually and unique reward opportunities such as an annual all-expenses-paid trip to Mexico for top performers. Border Foods also offers comprehensive education programs including GED and tuition reimbursement, as well as scholarship opportunities, medical/dental/vision coverage for all employees (including part-time staff), and generous paid time off, holiday pay, and vacation donation programs.
As a General Manager, you will lead by example and drive operational standards, including scheduling, quality control, health and safety compliance, profit and loss analysis, loss prevention, labor and inventory control, and team development. This role requires a strategic thinker capable of balancing short-term operational demands with long-term growth objectives. You will be the face of Border Foods in your restaurant, fostering a team environment founded on trust, recognition, and continuous improvement. Your role also demands excellent communication skills, the ability to handle employee and customer concerns effectively, and a passion for coaching and empowering your team to succeed.
The position demands flexibility as the work schedule may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, late nights, and holidays. Physical requirements include the ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently throughout the workday, which can be accommodated with reasonable adjustments if necessary. Border Foods is dedicated to maintaining an inclusive, diverse workplace and is an equal opportunity employer that values minority groups, women, protected veterans, and individuals with disabilities, promoting an environment free from discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation. This role reports directly to franchise management and operates independently from Taco Bell Corp. or any of its affiliates, ensuring a unique workplace culture aligned with Border Foods’ own policies and vision.
