Job Description

Border Foods started as a vision between two brothers with dreams of opening a Mexican restaurant, and from this humble beginning, it has blossomed into one of the largest privately held Taco Bell franchisees in America. With a strong foundation rooted in family values and a commitment to excellence, Border Foods is a leading name in the fast-food industry, particularly in the Mexican cuisine segment. The company operates a wide network of Taco Bell locations, emphasizing a people-first culture that seeks to empower every team member from entry-level cooks and cashiers to restaurant managers and beyond. This focus on individuals and team growth has been central to the organization's success and longevity.

At Border Foods, the culture revolves around their Core Values: Accountability, Integrity, Family, Excellence, Teamwork, and Empowerment. These values are not just buzzwords; they guide every aspect of operations and employee interactions. The company is deeply invested in creating safe, welcoming, and supportive environments for employees and guests alike, making it a place where people can truly thrive. Border Foods emphasizes the importance of learning, evolution, and development, and being part of their family means stepping into a career path filled with opportunities to make a positive impact.

The role of General Manager at Border Foods is integral to driving the company’s success. As a General Manager, your mission is to reinforce and embody the Core Values while overseeing every facet of the restaurant’s operation. The role involves building a strong, motivated team that consistently delivers high-quality food and excellent customer service. You will be responsible for creating a restaurant environment that supports and enhances the employee experience, while also ensuring guests receive friendly and efficient service that meets the brand’s high standards.

Apart from operational leadership, the General Manager is tasked with fostering a positive workplace culture, which includes employee development and retention, respecting diversity, and resolving challenges effectively. This leadership role requires hands-on management skills, including scheduling, team member accountability, quality assurance, safety and compliance observance, as well as financial oversight such as profit and loss management. The business acumen required includes strategic planning, labor and inventory control, loss minimization, and enforcing cash handling and accounting protocols.

Border Foods values leadership that empowers others, providing continuous learning opportunities, and mentoring team members to reach their full potential. The General Manager is expected to be an active coach and communicator who fosters teamwork, unity, and recognition among employees. This role also represents Border Foods in ensuring customer satisfaction and handling any issues or complaints with sincerity and professionalism.

The position offers competitive compensation, with General Managers having the potential to earn up to $100,000 annually through base pay plus bonus incentives. The company also provides numerous benefits such as medical, dental, and vision coverage even for part-time staff, paid time off, and a unique culture that nurtures career growth. Additionally, top performers are rewarded with special incentives like annual trips to Mexico, education programs including GED and tuition reimbursement, scholarship opportunities, free food, and much more. Border Foods is an equal opportunity employer that prides itself on diversity and inclusion, providing a workplace free of discrimination based on gender identity, sexual orientation, veteran status, or disability.

In summary, joining Border Foods as a General Manager means becoming part of a rapidly growing, values-driven company dedicated to excellence in the Mexican fast-food industry. It is a role designed for dynamic leaders ready to inspire their team, optimize restaurant operations, and contribute to a family-oriented culture that values personal and professional growth.
