Job Description

The Restaurant General Manager (RGM) is a pivotal role, serving as the leader who sets the gold standard for operational excellence and team success within the restaurant. As an RGM, you will be responsible for assembling and mentoring a high-performing team, guiding team members towards career advancement while promoting a positive work environment. This role demands a hands-on leadership style where you actively engage with staff and customers, ensuring that the service and products consistently exceed expectations. Working approximately 50 hours per week, including 40 hours at standard pay and 10 hours at a time-and-a-half rate, this position offers a balanced work schedule with rewarding compensation.

The RGM's day-to-day activities include recruiting, onboarding, and orienting new team members and shift leads to build a strong, prepared workforce. Developing and implementing comprehensive training programs for assistant managers, shift leaders, and team member trainers forms a core part of the role, ensuring continuous growth and skill enhancement across all staff levels. Recognizing and rewarding excellent performance fosters motivation and loyalty, while prompt resolution of conflicts maintains a healthy work atmosphere. Strategic scheduling ensures optimal staff coverage during peak hours and special promotions, while coaching the management team on operational standards ensures consistency and quality. Remaining vigilant of competitive trends and innovations, particularly in digital engagement and loyalty programs, allows the RGM to keep the restaurant ahead in a competitive market.

Ideal candidates will bring a minimum of five years’ experience in restaurant or retail management with proven leadership in people development and financial acumen. Strong digital proficiency and exceptional communication skills are essential, alongside a deep understanding of maintenance and food safety programs. Compensation for this role ranges from $60,000 to $80,000 annually, varying by location and experience.
